Speed in Golden Gate Canal System

Does anyone know what the boat speed is in the Golden Gate Canal System? I was thinking about launching my flats skiff during the winter months to try a little canal fishing. I know there's a ramp in the park off Santa Barbra but I didn't see any mention of boat speed at the ramp. I'm not looking to run WOT or anything but I would like to know if it's idle speed only or if I can go slow speed or even a little faster.

Thanks.

We used to fish evening tournaments out of there. No posted speed, run as you please in the main canal and lake. The property owners in the smaller run off canals get a little upset if you are wot in their back yards so I used to idle through there. It's a lot of fun fishing there. Caught LMB, snook, tarpon, peacocks, all in one day. We won a tournament out of there with a 6.9 lb bass kicker on a 5 fish limit one night.

Snooker, thanks for the help. by the lake do you mean the area that opens up off the main channel, I guess it would be to the north of the GG ramp? Also any issues getting under the bridges with a smaller flats skiff with a tower? I'm thinking this may be a good option when the wind is blowing, it's colder, I only have a little time and don't want to run all the way down to Marco, Goodland or EC. just to put the kids on some fish and try something new.

    Thanks again,

Yeah lake sapphire. In the summer with the rain the bridges can be low, a small tower will probably keep you restricted to the main canal but that is fine, plenty of fish in there.

Great, I was thinking of doing this excursion a little more towards winter time when it may be a little too cold or windy for the kids (age 6 & 10) to either be out a long time or if I just have a few hours and want to do some quick fishing close to a ramp.

Thanks again for your help this is what I was looking for.
