LOL. I have a friend that refuses to eat my Yard eggs from free range chickens, instead opting for Egglands Best, "because they are better for you". Yet she woofs down any desserts my wife makes with these eggs any chance she gets. Cakes, pies, brownies, you name it. Nothing wrong with Sav-a-lot chicken either. Got 3 more 10 lb bags in the freezer to smoke.

    I don't shop at sav-a-lot.

You wouldn't be the first person to be insulted or think I am a dumb **** for the way I feel. I spent $6 on a burger today and was laughed at then told I could get a complete meal at McDonalds for less. Some folks just don't care.

The bottom line is, unfortunately, the bottom line.

The retail business climate is worse than cut-throat.

Major players rely on "force of habit" as one of their weapons.

When we were in the contracts department of a major "third party" drug benefits company, we saw predatory behavior played out on a regular basis. A certain chain with operations in Texas would undercut their prices for prescription drugs in order to draw certain groups of insured patients into their stores in specific markets. If they were able to increase market share, so much the better, but the contracts only ran for 3 months, and renewed at the higher, industry standard, reimbursement rate.

It was all just a game ... part of a plan ... they knew exactly what they were doing.

Marketing is a science, human manipulation is a science, that's why they teach it in college.

Personally, we try hard to avoid Wally-World just on general principles.

Wal-Mart, the largest employer in the country, regularly counsels employees on "how to apply for food stamps".

Would the republic crumble if the Wal-Mart board of directors were found guilty of treason and hanged?

    We doubt it.

There are a lot of "I wouldn't eat stuff from that store" snobs on this thread. :rolleyes

It's not about being snobbish, it's about eating healthy. In wally worlds case I have issues with them that are why beyond their products or customer base.

Does save a lot sell antibiotic and hormone free chicken? If that's not what you are buying I do not want any. Greenwise isn't the best but it is better than the antibiotic and hormone laden crap most folks eat. Most of what I eat are whole foods.

Healthy food can be a bit more expensive. Americans are cheap hence the reason the majority are fat. At least I can understand why poor people eat crap food. I wonder why diabetes is rising at an alarming rate. Anyhow here are the fat stats http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/obesity-overweight.htm

I PROMISE YOU I WOULD.... Not putting down your cooking at all. Just can't permit myself to eat anything that comes from Sav-a-lot. My money is well spent at Publix and I will gladly pay a little more for better quality, better handled goods.

how are we snobs because we wont eat from a certain store.... I just want a better quality product.....for example, if you have the money and you like nice things is it snobby to buy a nice car NO! because you worked hard for that money and you can do whatever you want with it....so how is it snobby to not want to buy from a dirty environment, with no cleanliness,no customer service, and poor quality **** near expired food?

Not everyone on here. :) And certainly you can purchase food anywhere you like. I haven't seen anything bad about Save-a-lots chicken so I have no problem with it. If that changes I'll go somewhere else too.

There is the problem, there is NOTHING wrong with the product. All stores can be different though. Maybe your Sav-a-lot, Wal-mart or Winn Dixie are dirty. Ours are not. I have ate foods from all of them. Some for 14 years now, some for atleast 10. Never got sick, never threw anything out. If we had a Publix near by, I would go to it for certain Items, but why pay $3.50 for something I can get at Wal-mart for $2.25? The money I save, I can use to go fishing more. :shrug

The worst part about Walmart is they have used the money they made off of the average person to lobby against hunting and fishing. They are clearly behind all this crazy fishing regulations too.

The whole chicken from Winn Dixie stated Product of Moultrie, Georgia and the 10 lb leg quarters said Greely, Co. Nothing on bags stated a Country origin.

Both packages stated ALL NATURAL. MINIMALLY PROCESSED

I have eaten there for about 17 years without incident. Last doctors visit (only last month) everything normal.

OK...I did get one gallon of milk that went bad after 2 days. But that is in 17 years.

LOL ... Gallup researchers interviewed 2,027 adults in the U.S. last month to find that 32 percent of adults mostly drink regular soda, 24 percent drink diet soda and 43 percent don't drink any soda. The demographic groups most likely to drink soda included young adults ages 18 to 29 (50 percent said they mostly drink regular soda), people who aren't white (46 percent said they mostly drink regular soda) and people with lower incomes (45 percent of people making less than $30,000 a year said they mostly drink regular soda).

For diet soda, women were more likely than men to say they mostly drank the beverage
