I'd like to know what exactly is the difference between publix chicken breasts and chicken breast at Wal-Mart. You can get six boneless chicken breasts for about $10 @ Wallyworld and the same amount is nearly $20 @ Publix. I've tried both and can't tell a difference in taste.

that $20 is a made up BS price. You have no clue

what surprises me is that most stuff at winn dixie costs more than publix and the service and cleanliness is no way comparable, why folks shop there confounds me

I do the shopping in my home ( I ALWAYS EAT WHAT I LIKE :wink ) and being retired I have unlimited time...so I get from all three...Winn-Dixie Publix and Wal mart. The wal mart trip is always a later evening deal when 99% of people are home watching reality TV :grin Some things are 1 buck or more less than the other stores...so when i buy 10 of them it is a good savings...Otherwise I know what we use on a continuing basis and know what the "right" price is...and when it is on sale or BOGO..I stock up.
I like Publix because it is clean...I like some sales at Winn-dixie....

I shop at a local "county" place called Wards. Been here for a long time. Your cashier may be the owners MIL or Grandma.

They cater to local foods and farmers, country folk and hippies.

GREAT place, and they have a "Wall of Beer".

Do most of you have access to a good local grocer?

    http://www.wardsgainesville.com/
Ward’s Supermarket is the only locally-owned and operated grocery in Gainesville. Our family has been committed to providing the best selection, quality and prices for more than 60 years. We offer a bountiful array of fresh local produce, seafood, meat, baked goods, beer and wine and much more! We are dedicated to freshness, and you can see the difference throughout our store. Enjoy our truly original offerings, such as family-secret home-made jellies, sauces, dressings and salsa. Choose a loaf of fresh, locally made bread to go along with our wide selection of reasonably-priced wine and imported cheeses. Select some fresh meat or seafood to grill for dinner, and enjoy the variety of fresh, local vegetables available to go with it!

In a hurry? Pick up some of our famous barbeque and homestyle accompaniments for a wholesome and satisfying meal. Whether you need just a few things for dinner, or a week’s worth of nutritious food, we are happy to serve you.

The big stores did them in but they had a beachside one that switched to catering to the local 1%ers...delivery etc...Prices high as a senior high school girls dress after the prom...:grin ....But they have found a nich market.

Is that the place on the north end of Vero Beach? Last time I checked in August, they wanted $50/pound for average looking beef tenderloin and $30/pound for trigger fish.

    Yes...that's the place.

The funny part is they are super busy "in season"...Rich folks don't want to go over the bridge where "the townies" are... :rotflmao

Carrot cake was $5 a slice... but if you were known...you got a deep discount.

So do I. I don't shop at walmart but I do know 6 chicken breast at publix is not $20 even though I do not buy boneless chicken breasts.

If you want cheap chicken breast you need to go to a place like this https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cacciatore-Bros/265695273465874

Chicken breasts suck anyway (even if they are 1.99$/Ib at publix).

Thighs, that is where the flavor is.

If you are not on a fixed income or live paycheck to paycheck and shop at Walmart, you are part of what's wrong with our country. Do the country a favor and spend 30 cents more and buy local cheap arses...

hey maybe we can get the government to mandate everybody stop shopping at walmart, you ever think it might be all that some people can afford what are you the shopping police.

How much do you think they are? I realize you may have difficulty answering this since you don't buy them.

About $3lb IIRC. They are on sale at WD for $1.88lb/2.88 and $2.49lb at cacciatore bros right now. Wally world isn't half the price and publix isn't twice the price

Yes it is. I'll take a picture next time since you're obviously just making up stuff. Wallyworld is roughly half the price as Publix for boneless chicken breasts. I'm talking about regular price not sale price.

I am quite aware that they were "loss-leadering" me with their BOGO deal...and knew it could not go on forever...but I was willing to milk the cow if the milk was free!

OK so how does this apply to the label you gave this post? Not that I care for Walmart either but to me it is simply smart business practice.

Shop wherever you want. If you not are not on hard times and support all that china sheet you are part of the problem. Publix is a florida company where the employees are paid fair wages and have great benefits. I wouldn't give that small business killing corp a penny of my money.

Again: Maybe people shop there to save money for retirement or to take a vacation or for their children's college fund. What is wrong with that?

It doesn't mean they are cheap.

Personally don't shop there cant stand the place but the average person that shops there and not at Publix has a reason it's called prices. I shop at Publix because of convenience and location not because of there prices. Produce way too high, meat way to high just plain to high maybe that is the reason they can pay the employees so well, they are so good at screwing the public.
