Learn how to share the water or get off

My buddy and i were fishing the jetties out of pc anchored 20 yards off the jetty we were casting our baits towards the rocks. been fishing for over an hour when a mullet boat shows up. no big deal these guys just trying to make a living. all of a sudden they make a move towards our lines. so we try to warn them, no response, we start yelling, nothing. they run over our lines and start casting 5 yards in front of our boat. these guys just did not give a F, completely ignoring us and absolutely shutting the bite off. absolutely worthless people. hope the capsizes their boat on the jetty.

Wowsers! Another internet tough guy. Get caught launching a lead at someone and go straight to jail for assault. How old are you anyway?

No one is crustier and gnarlier than a mullet man. Yeah at that point it's either throw hands or take it.

Yep...throw anything more than a mean glare and that guy is coming over with an **** kickin in mind...and the night in jail don't mean squat to him.

my thoughts exactly. these guys looked like the scumbag type, probably already spent most their life in prison. i got way more to lose if i get into an altercation.

I think that if they put your life, vessel or equipment in peril you can probably report the incident to the Coast Guard. If they get enough complaints, they will find some way to deal with the guy.

You know it sucks!!! big time... I remember the days (long time ago) when you gave a **** whopping or took one and people would
walk away and have a beer.... not anymore..... yes it okay to get tick off and vent about it on here, but the best thing to do is just
walk away.... better yet start carrying a few M80s and throw them into the water... it will scare everything off...hey he already blown
your fishing spot...why not blow his... I have friends who will do circles around people like that with their boats... and it comes down to
who is going to act a fool first... I always wonder why my friend did that... but he told me... "Why should I be the only person to get
tick off"....heh..heh... so he blows right by them and it actually becomes a war of yelling and cussing.... and who ever throws
the first punch (be it sinkers) loses and loses big......

IMO its better to just move on and find somewhere else to fish.... I hate drama on the water and I rather not catch a thing and be at peace
than stay in hot spot and have people daring me to do something:banghead

I agree, sad but true. Its a tough thing to do, just leave but if you can make yourself do it, it is best. Personally, irs crap like this that makes fishing anywhere near any jetty just not worth it. I always wonder why the marine patol is never around at times like this.

The mullet guy wants to put $$ in the bank an only has X amount of time to do it. I get more worked up by the "avid" angler who is just saying that he is more important than me and owns the water. The circle thing works pretty good but you only need to go around once, it does what it is supposed to do.

There are nice people out there - appreciate them when you see 'em.

Pretty much - the nice guys always get abused by someone.

Aren't you supposed to be duck hunting?

Last year during the snapper mini-season, I woke up at 3 am and me and my boys went out and were going to hit some of my "honey holes" to load up on our one apiece. As we moved to one of my spots shortly after daylight, the first two boats that see us stopped, hook a hard left and literally pulled right up on us! These aren't public numbers I was on by the way. I was flabbergasted! One of my buddies is a home-grown Florida cracker and he chimes in..."you haven't seen this side of me before" right before he dog-cusses these guys who when asked "What the F are you doing?" answer...."catching bait." Are you serious? I would never in a million years come up and poach off someone like that. Even if it is a public number (which mine wasn't)....first-come, first-served. It would be nice if people could show a little common sense and respect. The second dude just pulled right up on us and anchored in the middle of our drift. I will not fish the weekend snapper mini-bs again...ruined it for me!
Tight lines y'all.......just rolling with the Tide!

With "open carry" and "stand your ground" mentality ruling the current political (and judicial) climate, it's probably best to invoke the "discretion is the better part of valor" strategy!

I quit fishing Sebastian inlet jetties because of the people pushing me around. One Snook or Redfish ain't worth running my knife in their ribs.
  • JettyparkJettypark Posts: 1,972 Captain
LOL... remember guys that Fla allows us to "Open Carry" while we are fishing/hiking or camping and you don't need a permit...
and we also have a law that states if we are fishing and everything is legal and anybody tries to stops us.... they can be arrested..
    just saying....

It happens everywhere, Florida and Missouri. People know they are doing, they just don't care. Just be glad you are with that guy.

For real!.... Life is too short to spend any of it all pizzed off...while fishing. There are plenty of other times for that.
