I rarely get week days off so I decided to fight the high winds Tuesday and take the boat out. I fished the north IRL since I could tuck away from the wind behind the spoil islands and creeks.
I managed to catch a couple small trout and some jacks on top water early but the chop was so bad I couldn't work the plug properly. Switched to some DOA plastics and it was game on from there. The high tide was ripping in and the wind was pushing it the opposite direction which created some pretty gnarly current breaks on points. Found a spot that looked fishy and stuck to it for about an hour. About 20 minutes into it I caught a big croaker which made me think there might be some hungry reds and trout around. Sure enough a few casts later I hooked a 21 inch red. The next cast was a 20 inch trout, and a few minutes later a 29 inch red! I rarely catch reds up there bigger than 18 inches so it was rewarding for sure.
Ended up losing count of the numbers of trout I caught and surprised most were 20 inchers.
Great day fishing, glad I risked the wind!

Probably had the whole place to yourself so sounds like you did well.
