Went out Thursday night to Melbourne beach and caught a 6' black tip. Threw a savage gear twitch bait close to the shore and surprisingly a shark ate it. I've never had a shark eat anything but live or dead bait so this was extra cool. 15 minutes later I pulled in a shark. That was the only thing I caught but it was worth it.

I've never caught a shark on a lure. Got any pictures of the lure?

Nice shark!

Reel - they will hit many diff kinds of lures, even flies. Soft baits seem to be more appealing, maybe it is the "odor" of the plastics?

There is a petition to ban the chumming of bait and shark fishing in Melbourne Beach. If you are interested in shark fishing this area I would look it up before it is lost forever. There is a facebook link to sign that has already met the required 100 signatures and I was informed of a FWC meeting on the issue as well. Just saw this thread and Im not on here much, so if you need more info send me a pm and I will look up the links if no one else can provide.
