Just Trout...

Today was just Trout...I jumped a little Snook off and while I saw a good amount of Reds...couldn't get them interested.
I wound up with 5 trout 5 Jacks and a bluefish. It was really hot and still which may have hurt the bite today.
I did see something that I have not seen in a year...a large school of Jacks...the bigger 4 - 5 lb variety. I caught a couple for fun before moving on. I did get a nice trout on the chug bug...but lost it in the jack school when one must have hit the knot or another fish hit the line under tension.
I did get two really nice Trout on bait....

The pics stink...but they were both real nice size...

After yesterday, I was thinking you could be right....I caught 4 Trout that were bottom slot fish...and caught a lower twenties snook....

    IMG_20140822_072705_zpsdycepn5m.jpg

but could not convert any of the Reds I saw...and I got a few good chances but they were not interested. :shrug

Today started painfully slow...I ran north of the ramp and in the first hour and a half I only had one Trout and two jacks on the CAL...
I made a decision to turn and run south..and it paid off. I picked off a Snook on both sides of the first spot I stopped at...next spot I caught a small snook on one side of a small opening and the next cast to the opposite side I caught this ....

    IMG_20140823_084310_zpsclg0s7l7.jpg

8:43 AM and that is #83....pressure was off so I went looking around since the water everywhere now is wrecked.

Ran to my "Redfish bush"...and they were there..but would not eat. I looked at a couple other places that were vacant.
Came back toward the ramp and got broke off on a dock by something big....

Today had something kinda weird and cool happen...I caught my fish to complete a slam..at the same time as yesterday..8:43 AM...:)

I left the ramp and went north. I hit my first spot and the second cast up to a shallow point I think I hung a shell/rock...but it starts to move...then comes full length out of the water. I get several nice jumps and a couple strong runs till I get it in for a lip grab. Sorry the pic stinks..6:15 is kinda dark and the cell phone does not have flash..I even tried lightening it up with the edit in photobucket but it is dark.

    IMG_20140824_063417_zpsfjunrygj.jpg

Right at 28 inches...just a week too early. I got another small snook a few cast later..and a ladyfish and a jack.
Ran from there to a Trout spot and got three....

    IMG_20140824_071509_zpsd1dgwpbz.jpg

Turned and ran south. Got broke off by a top slotter Red in the mangroves...and had almost convinced myself that I had blown my shot...but ran to anther good Red spot and caught this one..

    So, That was #84 at 8:43 AM...AGAIN!

Stayed at it and caught a nice Trout about 9:15..but the picture does not show on my phone? :shrug

Ran to another spot and caught three more small snook...on the trailer at 10.

Nice work! Tried to get down there this weekend...but flying around in those big silver germination tubes finally caught me.

Next weekend.... Glad to see there are some nice fish moving down there, now I need to get there too!

The last two days are not "just Trout"...In fact..I have not caught one either day.
Yesterday I struggled...High winds and high (NE wind and new moon) and dirty water was what I had to deal with and had to quit early to get the wife to a Dr's appointment. I caught two small snook and jumped a Tarpon in a little wind protected backwater.

Today was a lot better...Water was still high and dirty...but I changed up locations and went south. I managed 7 snook...most like this one ..

    IMG_20140826_070235_zpsq6eozmgf.jpg

    And jumped 4 more off.

I also lost one mid slot Red boatside while trying to get my net.... Wrestled it out of the mangroves and thought " your mine"...but sometimes they shake off.

A little while later I got this one....

    IMG_20140826_090119_zps0v7imjgb.jpg

I hope this wind lays down tomorrow....

The wind backed off a bit today...just enough I could run to a spot and topwater up this guy...

    IMG_20140827_065906_zpsjmundnbk.jpg

It was still early and tried for a few more but only got a Bluefish and a jack.

Hit a spot close by and picked off this little guy.....

    IMG_20140827_073405_zpsryctlyxm.jpg

Water was flowing in and dirty. I went to the Redfish bush...but there was only a HUGE one there... And right against the bushes. I was not geared up to mess with it so i didn't even try. Left there and the spot I went and had Reds yesterday only had snook...caught 4 more of those but all small....and then at 10::08 when I was ready to quit...Got this...

    That's #85

I been buried in work the last 7 weeks but now trying to catch up on reports.
85 slams is an great year Joe and 10 in a row will be a high make to beat
Looks like 100 is poss. - duck season is still several weeks away
I enjoy all of your post and pics - reminds me what all the work is for

I saw in one of your pics that your motor looked new - did you repower?

And No, the motor is a 2012...maybe it rained the night before...makes it look nice. :wink

OK..Photos finally went to my photobucket account so I could put them in the report.

This morning there was no wind...and very little current. First spot I miss a trout but I catch this guy.

    IMG_20140828_070009_zpsvohvdfur.jpg

Move to another spot and can only catch jacks on the topwater...caught 7 or 8 then moved a little and switched to the CAL...caught a couple of these..

    IMG_20140828_072335_zpsrkn5m6h7.jpg

Ran south but struggled...Saw a few snook but they were definitely not feeding...just hanging out. Finally found one that ate.

    IMG_20140828_095259_zpstlvfxjgg.jpg

Kept at it and saw a few Reds but couldn't get them interested..had two follows but would just turn away at the last second.
It was late and hot...switched to my best live wiggler and got lucky..Saw the fish and put it out in front and even with it being right against the mangroves...was able to get it out away from shore.
