FYI it appears the Big Ten squashed the idea of The Game being a night game:

Here's hoping Meyer still goes for two.

Maybe, same thing was assumed last year and OSU won 42-41 with Hoke's team failing on a last second 2 point conversion.

Anything can happen in that game.

Of course winning conference games matter, but lets not pretend The Big Ten is a powerful conference. The Big Ten probably ranks 4th in the power 5 conferences just ahead of the ACC and slightly behind the Big 12.

    Sure.

He is 21 and 1 versus the Big Ten (against ranked teams 5 and 2) with no big ten titles and no bowl wins. Truth be told there is no reason a strong Ohio State team should lose at all in the Big Ten - it is a weak conference.

I am not down playing what Meyer has accomplished in Columbus, but let us not forget that there are still important goals that need to be reached. I am simply not ready to anoint him the savior that some did when he took over the program.

Is he a better coach than Luke Fickell - absolutely.

Is he a better coach than Jim Tressel? To be determined, but I'd bet that at the end of Meyer's tenure JT has a better winning percentage in all games that matter (Big Ten champions and Bowl games).

He did make some interesting statements yesterday regarding the QB position. Previously when he was asked who the starting QB is, he ALWAYS said Braxton Miller. Yesterday he stated:

Meyer's change of tune Monday about the future of Ohio State's quarterback position is not only fair to the fans but also to the two players involved.

"Competition brings out the best, and I'm really excited to have two really good quarterbacks next year," Meyer said Monday. "That's the plan. I think they're both excellent quarterbacks. Excellent quarterbacks. And we'll worry about that day when it comes."

    http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/110699/urban-meyer-wisely-changes-tune-on-future-of-ohio-state-qb-position

I am glad to see him publicly state there will be competition for the position next year. Previously he made it seem like he intended to simply hand the reigns back to Braxton upon his return (which I don't think is likely anyways).

It's widely rumored that the OSU v scUM game will be at 8 pm this year. If Meyer hangs a hundo on them for Hoke's going away party, maybe I'll change my tune, ok?

    You've got 7 1/2 points if it's a noon kick off.

    You've got 10 points if it's a 3:30 kick off.

    You've got 20 1/2 points if it's a 8:00 pm Kick off.

Or we can wait and see how the spread opens and try to reach an agreement then.

    For a beer, of course.

Deal. Actually, I hope it's early. I'm heading out on a hunting trip the next morning.

    Good luck on your trip.

I hope it's early too. I somehow can not make the final of the night games. I feel like I've missed half the season this year.

    1 Mississippi State 9-0
    2 Oregon 9-1
    3 Florida State 9-0
    4 TCU 8-1
    5 Alabama 8-1
    6 Arizona State 8-1
    7 Baylor 8-1
    8 Ohio State 8-1
    9 Auburn 7-2
    10 Mississippi 8-2

You aren't looking good DumDum. Positive for OSU is Minnesota moved up to #25 so if OSU wins out they will potentially have beaten 3 ranked teams this year. Not terrible I suppose and could get them in if they win convincingly.

I found it interesting that they committee has the top 4 with 4 teams from 4 different conferences.

At the rate FSU is dropping they may be #5 by the end of the season (even if they don't lose a crappy game) LOL!!!

I am willing to concede that my chances are bleak at best.
I made the bet assuming tOSU would win the BIG, I still think they will. I am surprised the winner of one of the most storied conferences will be held out of the inaugural CFB playoff.
The early season loss to VT hurts them immensely and gets worse evey week because VT looks worse and worse.

Bama is going to beat MISS State this weekend.
TCU will trip up at some point... the ducks and FSU are the only teams currently in the top 4 who will not lose.

Ohio States best chance is shaping up to be a 2 loss SEC champ getting left out.

Guess the committee isn't impressed with a team who continues to play a self admitted two time thief, who vandalizes buildings with pellet guns, who is the primary suspect of at least one **** and now is accused of point shaving games.

    Who would have thought?

For what it's worth the only significant difference between rank 2 and rank 3 is rank 2 gets to wear home uniforms.

Would be funny if 2 loss Missouri wins the SEC after they lost to a bottom tier Big Ten team earlier in the season - Indiana?

Big Ten champ would have to be in while the SEC champ is out.

    LOL...

Oregon lost to Arizona at home. What more do I need to know?

If it were reversed, and a 1 loss FSU team was ahead of a 9-0 oregon team I'd still be scratching my head.

They didn't look very good. They need to find another return man, that's for sure.

I don't think this win helps much considering TCU crushed Minnesota earlier in the year. Still lots of football to play and they can get in.

    I'm pleasantly surprised actually.

Apples to oranges and you know it.
tOSU went on the road vs a conference foe and won, TCU simply cleaned up at home vs Minn.

Sure and the weather was a factor in the OSU game and was not for TCU.

I believe Ohio State controls it's own destiny right now. I think all the help they need from other teams is bound to happen as the season winds down and teams above OSU knock each other off.

We will just wait and see, but I am a huge Missouri fan right now.
