That's why I was at a loss when he said they would have like 3 losses and not even win their division much less the big.
They are going to roll this year.
That's why I was at a loss when he said they would have like 3 losses and not even win their division much less the big.
They are going to roll this year.
The BIG TEN EAST is probably in the top 5 most difficult divisions in the entire country.
OSU is playing in at least 5 night games this season including @PENN ST and @MSU. The Cincy game @6pm in The Shoe will be an early game to watch.
OSU lost the entire O-Line in 2013.
OSU will not have a power running game - Hyde is gone.
OSU will have a suspect back up QB - Guiton is gone.
Miller in my opinion is an amazing athlete however he can not carry an offense on his shoulders for an entire season - proven by his missed games every year due to injury.
Miller can not throw the ball accurately enough to lead a championship team. I've said all along that the first team to stop the run beats OSU - MSU proved this.
OSU's D sucked in 2013 - so even if they improve leaps and bounds to "good" this year they will still likely give up 300+ yards per game and ~20 points per game.
Coaching was very suspect last two years too. Check the box scores for yourself, but Meyer is letting off the gas when he gets a lead in a game and "hanging on". Not to mention terrible play calling against MSU in the championship game and not pulling Miller against Clemson with broken ribs in the first quarter. Terrible.
I'd love to be wrong, but I don't see OSU beating MSU at minimum (meaning MSU wins the East and plays Wisconsin or Nebraska for the championship). Providing Miller's health OSU could be in for a long season. Meyer knows it as he repeatedly stated during Big Ten media day a couple days ago - "We have to keep Miller healthy". The entire program right now is riding on Miller's shoulders - there really is no other option.
In summary OSU should probably be ranked 12-15 and earn their way in to the top 10. I wouldn't be surprised with an 11-1 or a 9-3 season. I would be surprised with a 12-0.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
You are worried about BM's passing? Lmao
Please see the NC Gata teams w/ TT dinking and dumping his was to a 150 PR.
Should be a fun year... time will tell.
Please see the NC Gata teams w/ TT dinking and dumping his was to a 150 PR.
Miller is not TT.
I don't watch many gator games, did TT miss 2-3 games a year due to injury?
Before he missed nearly three full games at the beginning of last season with a knee sprain, he left six others because of injury since taking over as Ohio State's starter in 2011. He has yet to play a full healthy season in college.
With out Kenny Guiton OSU would not have won 24 straight. This year with out Kenny Guiton I expect Miller to get hurt and OSU to loose a couple games - especially with such a young and inexperienced O-Line.
Miller IS GOING TO get banged up this year. If you really think OSU wins the Big Ten and makes the 4 team play off you have a lot of faith for our back up QB, a player you likely can not even name.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
I don't have faith in your back up QB... I have faith in the system urban runs.
What NFL team is mr. Awesome (kG) playing for this year?
08 Gata won a NC w/ some1 called C. Leak.
The QB is not the most important part of Urban's system. Getting speed guys in space is the key.
Spread has never worked in the Big Ten.
So far you have provided nothing to support your "faith" that OSU will dominate the Big Ten and make the 4 team play off - other than your love for Urban.
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
The spead has not worked in the big?
Care to share OSU's record vs Big10 teams under Urban?
NO TEAM HAS EVER WON THE BIG TEN UTILIZING A SPREAD OFFENSE.
Closest team was North Western in the 90's won a share one year with the spread - if I recall correctly.
Edit**
Over the past 13 years the Big Ten has produced 18 champions or co-champions. How many of them have been spread teams? Just two and they happened to be in the same year, 2000. That's the year Northwestern and Purdue tied with Michigan for the conference crown.
So, that leaves 16 teams in the past 12 years that have all been those pesky outdated pro-style offenses. It's been those plodding Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin teams winning conference titles—not the high flying offenses put in place at Purdue, Northwestern and a few other places on a changing basis by coach.
Urbie wants to run BM like TT (we saw it early on last year) and he will get injured. That is when the wheels will fall off....
EXACTLY. And my fear is it will happen early in the season - maybe against Cincy - making OSU extremely vulnerable in the back to back away night games @PSU and @MSU.
I like MSU in the East. Maybe Nebraska in the West. Should know more after Wisconsin and LSU match up in the season opener. Either way the West will be decided 11/15 when Wisconsin and Nebraska match up, just as the East may be decided when OSU and MSU play.

OSU may not win the Big.
I think they will and you don't... It's ok to disagree.
:drink
Sure it's ok to disagree but I thought the point of an internet forum was to discuss things. I attempted to explain myself and gave a detailed list to support my opinion. You on the other hand started the topic and have since provided nothing to support your beliefs except your man crush on Urban.
Did you even read the article I posted? It went on to say:
Just four of the past 13 national champions ran a spread offense—Oklahoma (2000), Florida (2006, 08) and Auburn (2010).
The rest of the list reads like a who's who of the college football world in the past decade and a half and they all ran pro-style offenses. Miami (2001), Ohio State (2002), LSU (2003, 07), USC (2004), Texas (2005) and Alabama (2009, 2011, 2012).
If you don't want to have a rational discussion what are you even doing here?
I have never eaten a booger in my entire life. -Jim Harbaugh
5. Braxton Miller, Ohio State: He's got unique wisdom as a four-year starter. Last season Miller found a rhythm after missing the first two games of the season with a knee injury. He'll have a chance to pick up better momentum in 2014, and now he's comfortable in Urban Meyer's spread offense. With experience as a dual-threat QB, expect Miller's numbers to skyrocket.
I never was either, even when Timmy was rolling up wins and titles with it.
Too many stupid runs up the middle for no gain, trying to set the defense up. It was often rather frustrating at the games. The Gators won mostly due to great defense and the some huge long plays by Harvin and Hernandez.
Though...the Muschamp years have been much much worse.
To be honest, I didn't see it. I stopped reading your post after the first sentence.
But Urban is going in to his 3rd year at OSU and has yet to win a league championship or bowl game.

Maybe if you read more than the first sentence of my posts you would understand IMO speed/skill players are what it takes to run the spread effectively and OSU is loaded with them. The point of the thread was to show you the CFB coaches across the nation agree w/ me. OSU is the best team in the big.
Since you reply w/o even reading my post I won’t waste anymore of your or my time.
BTW… you still didn’t post the record even after you “saw” my que… funny yet predictable.
Enjoy the season.

Your last point nailed it.
It worked because of the talent in the respective positions. Y'all were just dangerous all around, don't forget Dallas Baker "the TD maker". Harvin was just such a weapon in that offense, and IMHO was the fulcrum for all offensive production.
Maybe if you read more than the first sentence of my posts you would understand IMO speed/skill players are what it takes to run the spread effectively and OSU is loaded with them.
Guess I failed to see in your two sentence posts where you named any player with speed at OSU.

OSU will always get the benefit of the doubt in the Big Ten, largely due to their past success. In reality OSU should be ranked 12-15 coming in to this year. What nimrod would rank them above MSU when MSU beat them their last meeting?

It is the same offense that made JD the # 1 HS prospect in the nation.

Buckeye (avid OSU fan) was the one arguing with you.
The BIG10 is pretty weak outside of OSU, MSU and Wisc this year. As is the ACC outside of FSU, Clemson and Miami.

ESPN has no link for the entire poll though. Guess they're too busy covering soccer.
Here it is: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/polls/smg-usat/2014/1/
Thank you!
UF #27 :nono
I would take MSU and WI even Iowa over Clem and UM.
ACC is a true joke w/ one good team.
Wanna buy a pyramid?
What, you really thought they would be ranked?
It'll take a few weeks or a big loss in the top 25 to get them in there considering the two fluff games they have to play.
I'd expect UF at #30-35 based on last season
