WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican senators blocked an election-year bill Wednesday to limit tax breaks for U.S. companies that move operations overseas.

The bill would have prohibited companies from deducting expenses related to moving their operations to a foreign country. It also would have offered tax credits to companies that move operations to the U.S. from a foreign country.

The Senate voted 54-42 to end debate on the bill, six short of the 60 votes needed to advance it. The White House says President Barack Obama supports the legislation.

They probably wanted a provision to defund Obamacare or something about securing the borders or some other non-related issue. Never ceases to amaze me how both teams vote against the cannon balls because of a few BBs.... notice I said both teams... they're all guilty of it.

Perhaps, but you really need not wonder why the POTUS is using executive orders so much. Congress is dysfunctional at best and their inaction is hurting the country.

Who says it's good for the country. US gov't should make the tax policies that induce companies to stay here.

The difference — $214 million — would have been added to the budget deficit.

    oh, yea, that's good then.

Obama should just say he's against the bill and would veto it. Bet it gets to his desk.

Obama has made it smart politics to say "no" when he says "yes". No one to blame for that but Obama.

So you are unable to see the economic connection? Really?

For the sake of the unemployed focus on the JOBS that benefit REAL PEOPLE and get over the "corporation" thing. And also get your head around the fact that business only pass along the cost of taxes, just as with any other business expense.

It's really not that hard......once you release the envy and hate.
