I drew a hunt for Dinner island and have a couple questons on the area, all input is appreciated!
1 Are the roads bad, can you access the whole park without a 4x4 or is it needed?
2 According to the aerial map it appears to be open pasture with oak hammocks, is this correct?.. i usually hunt from my climber, would this be an option for out there, as in is there trees to set up on?
Anything else you want to add is appreciated. Thanks
2. Correct. It's usually not possible to use a climber in the oaks but you might be able to find a palm or lonely pine that is good to climb.
X2. Lots of road hunters there. Plan on getting in away from roads. Good luck. Some nice deer have come out of there.
Happiness is a belt fed weapon!
Here's a Skull I found bout 5 years back there
The bucks out there will be dogging does and moving. Get ready to wet and stay wet. Get ready to cross canals and ditches. Get ready to do some crawling. Dont settle on a hog by the time you drag it out you would have wished you never shot it.
Good Luck there is a reason that place is called Devils Garden it is just that.
That's some good advice there.
Leave the boots at home because you'll prob be waist deep at some point lol. I have boots that roll up into hip waders and had to take them off in a mad rush after they filled w water while I was stalking one.
I've tried sneakers and other water/wading shoes but have always had issues with blisters and/or them being squeaky when wet. Last year I just gave up and went barefoot. I've heard dive booties work well...like being barefoot only with some protection on the sole.
Yeah tried those but they're extremely squeaky. Wet socks make a squishing noise and end up getting all stretched out.
I like my keen water shoes.
