Alligator Harvest Report Question

4WARD4WARD Posts: 2,984 Captain
After 2 Emails to FWC with no response after last season, I thought I would ask you all.
On the harvest report form you have to circle "Processed" or "Transferred"
I normally drop my gators at a processor and my hides are sold by me to a licensed hide dealer for the cost of processing (+-) and the meat is then returned to me. So it is Processed(meat) for personal consumption and also Transferred(hide) to someone else. Not sure what the correct answer is.
It may not be that big of a deal but I know people who have been "paid a visit" over report form goof ups.
Just want to get it right. Thanks

If we keep any portion of the gator we circle transferred as a portion was transferred to us.

If you are having the alligator processed by a licensed processor, the alligator must be "transferred" to the processor.
Under section A Trapper line 8 Disposition of carcass can only be discarded or processed. If processed you "transferred" it to whom.
This would be the processors name.
    Under section "B"
The processor whom would be the "receiving processing facility" would fill out this section.
This is just a chain of custody of the alligator.

Line 8 is Discarded, Processed or Transferred.
Processing facility fills out section B. This is were I get confused: Processor retains no part of gator. Third party takes the hide.
So in section A should I Transfer to Hide Dealer?
    Everyone involved is Licensed.

Picture FWC showing up to the processor. They point at your gator and say show me the paperwork for that gator. The processor needs to have a record as to how they got the gator. Each processor may do it differently and some may have custom forms.

IMO Fill out the form that you transfered the gator to them. They will transfer the meat and hide back to you. Record of subsequent transfers are not done by the harvest report form. I would just note on your hard copy the final disposition of the hide so if FWC came and asked, you could accuratley tell them where the hide went to.

Thanks bgeorge, that is how it was handled last year. Just a little "gray area" between everything with a third party involved.
Will you be in Gainesville on Wednesday?

And thanks everyone else too, I think I got it.

Yes. We will be there. Look for the G&B Gator Gear banner. We plan to be at each of the shows in FL this year. The shows are a great way for people looking to see what the various vendors have to offer and talk with them. Hope to see you there.
