    Hey south west Florida!!!
Back from our pulley ridge trip with a great haul.
Some where in the neighbor hood of
2500 lbs on the dock. Was a combination
Of snowy, yellow edge, scamp , & red groupers ,
Queen snappers, mutton snapper, blue line tile fish ( grays )
Black fin tuna, wahoo, kingfish and a few mahi.

12 guys for a solid 30-34 hrs of fishing on a 60 hr trip.
We started out with a 12.5 hr steam to 143 miles
South west of Ft Myers. It was a slow first hr. With no
Wind or current but once my drift was dialed in
It was on and I mean everyone. This was a
Jigging trip with only a few people fishing bait.
Continued on for a while till night came.
Drifting the top of the ridge produced
Plenty of black fin tuna, kings and a night time wahoo.
Sunrise came and off to the deep again for more jigging.
Another good day of steady pulling and bent rods.
Around dinner made a 2 hr run to the north west
To a wreck in 220 that was out of the no anchor zone.
We anchored up and immediately hook ups
Almaco jacks , mutton snappers , and greater amber jack
That we had to release due to the closed season.
All in all awesome trip. Lots of fish , laughs ,
And personally my favorite part I found again some more
New spots to fish on my next trip
    8/21-8/24.
Till next weekends 3 day Tortugas trip
Have a great week to all
    Thanks again

How did the Jiggerz do compared to the Bait Soakerz ?
There should be NO Commercial Fishing for any fish species considered 'Over-fished' , 'Undergoing Overfishing' or Subject to Recreational Seasons, Limits, or Closures... Game Fish Status IS the Answer !!!

I only had 2 gentlemen fishing bait.
    The others all fished jigs
I think bait produces quantity for sure
The jigs showed good quantity but seem to show
A little more quality definitely some bigger fish.

  • Here are some pictures. The jiggers (of which I was one) caught much more quality than the bait fishermen. The Largest grouper of the trip was jig caught. The double on the snowy and queen was caught on a jig with a squid skirt teaser on the leader above it, also had a tilefish on that drop that got loose when the grouper and the snapper blew their swim bladders....saw it swim away. All hand cranked up from 550-650 ft in most cases.
