Phase 3 FCFS question

FlredbonesFlredbones Posts: 261 Officer
So just to make sure I'm clear on this, Wednesday the 30th is when people can start returning permits, but it also the day you can scoop those redraws back up. So do you have to just keep checking back in to see if the permits you want were returned? Because I'm going to be in the water for mini season at 10:00 AM Wednesday and I need to know if I need to get somebody to hop on for me and get the permits that I want. But if the redraws aren't all posted at once I don't think I'd need to do that. If somebody could clear that up for me that'd be appreciated.

I believe the first FCFS will be next Tuesday August 5 at 10:00. You will have until this coming Friday at 11:59 PM to return permits for the redraw on Tuesday. I think this is how it will work. Check on Saturday morning for the final total of upcoming FCFS permits.

Ok, so you can start returning them the 30th and can't start getting them until the fifth in that case?

Any permits turned in with less than 10 days before the drawing will be on FCFS redraw the following drawing. So if someone turns in a permit Monday 8/4/14, that permit will not be up for draw until the following Thursday on 8/14/14. After the phase 3 drawing, all subsequent weekly drawings will be on Thursdays.

I will be sending back a GSW hog hunt and a Dupuis ML as soon as the tab appears.

Also if you return your quota and want your preference points back you have to return the quota 5 days max before the hunt. Example. If your hunt is on August 10th you have till August 5 to return the quota to get your points back

Hollywoodcorolla, you are not correct. Per the website it says quota permits must be in at least 10 days BEFORE the hunt begins, not 5 days like you said above.

huntmstr, the website also says currently that the redraws take place every Tuesday so not sure where you are reading that they take place on Thursdays unless you have insider information and the website hasn't been updated.

    From the website:
Returning permits: If you are unable to use your archery, muzzleloading gun, general gun, wild hog, spring turkey, youth spring turkey, supervised youth, mobility-impaired, track vehicle, airboat, quail or family quota permit for any reason, you may return it to the FWC to be re-issued to another hunter. All permits must be returned at least 10 days before the hunt begins. No permits will be accepted electronically or by any other means within 10 days of the start date of your hunt. If you would like to return a permit issued in Phase I and have your preference points re-instated (and an additional preference point awarded), it also must be returned electronically no less than 10 days prior to the first day of the hunt.

    Re-Issuance Schedule

Returned quota permits will be available for re-issuance every 7 days in Phase III after the initial start date of the phase. Permits returned by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Friday will be reissued first-come, first-served at 10:00 am Eastern time the following Tuesday. There will be a separate column in the list of available permits that will display the returned permits as they are returned. Applicants may check after midnight on Friday to view which permits will be available on the following Tuesday.

You better read the regs...then call FWC and ask any questions if you expect correct answers....

I think they keep everyone posted on their facebook page. It's been very helpful for me since they started it a few months ago.

Correct. I had forgotten that they changed it to be Tuesdays for all FCFS drawings.
