I didn't watch & listen to him blab. Did he at least explain that the 9mm out of the 16 inch barrel of the Kel Tec would have more energy than the handgun?

I watched a guy on TV shoot a balloon at 350 yards with a 38 special handgun - no rest. He hit it. Probably had about the same energy as a 9 would. Enough to pop a balloon.

Im impressed he hit the board with iron sights at 440 yds., regardless of what he shot it from.
