Not much of a report....but a friendly reminder!

To inspect and grease your hub assembly often...only day off to fish in 3 weeks and 2 miles from the ramp, my negligence caught up with me. I can think of a few ways I'd rather spend my morning so than waiting on the side of us1 waiting for true value to open.
At least it's a quick fix.:shrug

Hope you guys tore em up this morning.

I just had one go out as well... planned on doing routine maintenance but it failed before I got to it.
I got home yesterday (replaced the hubs about 3 weeks ago) and noticed one of the rubber covers of my bearing buddy was off. Man, can't win lately, at least there was still grease.

I now carry a full hub replacement....just in case

Yea, I'll be buying 3 when the store opens. One to replace now and 2 backups.

Had that happen a couple months back...a real hassle. Glad you didn't mess up your spindle.

it is greatly appreciated, it's actually refreshing to know that there are people in this world who would do that. Thank you, I did make it off I had the hub replaced and on the water by 8:45.

I actually was a little worried about that when I finally got the hub off the inner bearing that had blown apart, was seized to the spindle. Luckily I managed to get it off. By the way Joe I did manage one fish today that had comparable stones to your snooklet, he took on a cal that was half as big as he was. i'll consider him a consolation prize...:rotflmao

Not sure if you are in Melbourne or not...but Ferguson's has always done me right with my trailer stuff (both boat and RV). Yeah, a plug for them but they always seem to go out of their way to help.

Check their prices, they have some nice hub kits that you can just stow away.

So, this thread got me thinking. I had that one bearing failure back in late April / May and had to do a roadside job...and have been meaning to get to changing out the other side since if one side went bad...how good could the other be...right?
So, Today I picked my spot to wage war on the trailer...parked under the Oak tree in the next lot over from me...brought the tools...changed the hub out... EZPZ

That was better than the alternative scenario by a long shot!

Yeah, Ferguson's is a good place to go for all trailer needs. I have used them for trailer and auto lights and hitches also.

I just did this about a month ago on mine. Failed on me 1mile from the house after getting fuel. Managed to limp home and do it in the driveway. Need 1, buy 2....Lesson learned > always carry a spare for roadside repair.
