Gator hunting question for NEXT season?

snooknreds2snooknreds2 Posts: 514 Officer
And, once again I forgot about this until it was too late :-(

I have yet to go gator hunting and REALLY want to check it off the bucket list! I feel like it would be such a rush and a connection to 'old' Florida! Something I have to do before my time here on earth is up!

For all you seasoned pros forgive me for wanting to get a piece of the action. (In the past I have been told by some on here I only want to go because of some TVshow, which is funny because I dont even have a TV..LOL)

SO I know for next year, when is the PROPER time to start applying for the tag/license?

In refferance to the other thread on here about proposed changes, I agree it is stupid to offer the tags to out of state residents when us reseidents cant even get enough!

Thanks LC... so it looks like this year I could actually still apply for phase 3, interesting! Next year I will remember to start looking around valentines day to be safe! Thanks!

If you are in a hurry there are many guides that offer hunts on their tags. Some will do it on the public water tags and some have year round access to private lands. Depending on what size you want will determine how much it will cost. If you wrap up the cost of tags, equipment, gas and such you may be supprised how close you get. And as a person that is new to the process you will learn alot by going out with an experienced person. Then you will be hooked and will not forget to apply next year.
The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. Hopefully the next man is not dropping his stones on the mountain you are trying to move.

I agree...the first time you would be best with someone who knows how to do it and has gear...but what is funny is that after you do it once...it's no big deal.

As far as "being hooked"...Nope, was not that big a deal...got to get a gator for my son and one for me...was not something I would spend money on again.
