Another first time Jr angler gets first sail w Palm Beach Fishing Company 6/29

Today we had a fun 1/2 day PM on Dirtyfin (Palm Beach Fishing Co.)
We had 18 year old Mike plus dad and mom and another couple they met at hotel.
First EVER Ocean fishing trip for entire gang!
(Note at hotel. Subject of fishing came up, they did a search on Trip Advisor and BAM PB Fish Co Top Rating helped us get a booking!

Started on bump troll in shallow and caught 2 big summertimes.
BMAC Ran us a little Deeper on color change and I joked “how cool would it be for us to get Mike a sail on his first ever trip”. :grin
No more than 2 minutes later I sensed left long was nervous, drop back and HUGE summertime sail came up jumping and tried to spit hook / bait!

I knew what had to be done. IE Get tight before fish spits or game over! The 7 to 1 retrieve on our Saltists really helped and Mike is grinning as fish jumps and greyhounds for West End.

After a 30 minute spirited battle we got leader in hand clean release) w/o being removed from water...
(Not a fan of Billfish removed from water for pics, but to each his own)
PS if true, according to the HMS permit document folks section 635.21 (a) & (2) it is illegal to remove a billfish from the water if you do not plan on retaining it !!! (nuff said off the soap box) :banghead:banghead

Came inside and released some runners, grunts triggers and got OWNED by a grouper that rocked us up!
Bmac put us on a pod of tarpon at end of trip and 1 ate, but rolled and spit!

Thanks guys.... sails stay in the water. PBFCo. policy is to follow all federal regulations. Stress inducing for fish, removes slime coat... no bueno!
