Today's crew we have Tom, Johnny, Adrian and myself. We've arrived early at the house to do our best to beat the train trestle and not successful as we arrived there we are greeted with the trestle down and a northbound train just arrived there.
It's a short trip to the inlet and once again we are greeted by calm seas and a beautiful sunrise, Tom took some photos of that hopefully he will post them later. We make our way to The Sand Pile and began our search for live bait we score pretty good with several full stringers at the cost of numerous Sabiaki rigs.
We then head to Evans Crary and as some of us continue to catch bait we give it a try with the live bait, and before long it is boneheads on. These boneheads seem to be of the larger variety, and they all put up a excellent fight.
We did manage to hook up and land a couple of dolphin only one of which was big enough for us to keep, about 25 inches. Several more that we gladly toss back to be able to catch it a bigger and later time. With a mostly non-edible fish being caught we head towards deeper water.
We look for better water conditions in this so far nothing of interest. Heading to the East we achieve at depth of well over 300 feet with absolutely nothing to show for all our intense efforts. With beautiful skies and a terrific color to the water we are all surprised at the lack of action.
We head back and towards shallower water as we have heard a few reports and closer. We find some spots in approximately 60 to 70 feet it shows some promise. Once again we give it a try with the live bait and we are rewarded with you got it
Bonehead City. Here is a short video of bonehead action.
