Well after 2 weeks of no fishing for me. I couldn't wait to get out there today. And reading all the reports of dolphin this week. Needless to say I was itching to get out there. Hit the boat ramp at 535am this morning and surprised not to see any bait guys . So went to the sand pile and started marking bait right away. Matter of fact the bait stayed under my boat for a good 20 mins. After getting bit off twice by cudAs I only had one more sabiki with me and was able to get a dozen or so . Saw Bo "let's go" and invite him over to feast on bait fish while I was re rigging mine. Anyways I get out of there after 30 or so boats show up and head to shrimpers and landed a few more. I head east and thinking big day ahead. Started looking for weed mats and nada. A few patches or so in 100 to 230 ft. But not holding any bait . So decided to go deeper get to 900 ft. I see a small weed line and head that way this line was holding bait, so I threw I livey and bumped trolled for about a min and bam fish on. Decent size cow. Get her in the boat and box. She had no friends with her, I immediately thru another livey with no hookup. So stayed in the area for about 20 mins or so and nothing. Decided to come in shallower and trolled my way in. Then in 280 ft I hear the tiagra 50 go off for a second then stop, new it was a sail told my son to let line out to it and bam sail on what a beautiful fish . Get it to boat and release it gave us a little show few jumps. After releasing decided to call it.
