Motorguide Xi5 60"

I am going to get a new Motorguide Xi5 w/GPS Pinpoint for my Mako 18LTS. My only problem is that I am currently using a Motorguide VariMax with a 48" Shaft and the only size readily available in the Xi5 is the 60" Shaft. Do you think this is going to be too big for my boat??

No. In my opinion the longer the shaft the better.

Try the 60" shaft for a while and determine if you really need all 60". As long as it doesn't interfere with opening hatches, seating or hanging over the sides you're Ok. You can always cut the shaft down if necessary.

Depends on how you primarily fish. I have a 60" Ipilot and a 52" hand control. While I love the Ipilot the longer shaft can and will get in your way if your are skipping baits around docks and mangrove shorelines.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went ahead and purchased to 60" and a quick remove plate to go with it. Can't wait to get her out in the water and try it out.
