Golden Tiles, Snowy Grouper Closure June 7th

OK, so what a great golden tile season, we apparently have caught our 3019 goldens, and our 523 Snowy Groupers to we are done!

For myself, this has been the best Golden Tile fishing I have experienced in over 20 years. The fish were there, they bit on any tide, and the size was better than ever. At least they closed the commercials also. What do they get, 1000 times what we get?

And how the heck is Snowy grouper still pen for commercial fishing. We get only 523 of those fish and the comms can keep harvesting them?

What part of this makes sense? If we only get 523 snowys, how can that stock support any kind of commercial fishery.

Remember those numbers are for the entire SAFMC area of responsibility.

While it is inequitable for sure, it is notable that the commercial limit for snoweys is only 100 lbs per trip. Hardly enough to cover operating costs of a commercial fishing vessel.

How is it that recs get to fish for trout 24/7 all year and com's only get 5 months?

Good for the goose, good for the gander.
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

Certainly Snowies are a bycatch not a target species for the comms, now Goldens, another story with the BLL sets getting upwards of 3000 lbs per set.

Seems to be a repeating theme, don`t look for logic, where logic does not exist...........
