Well, finally got to use my new 7' gaff yesterday.

It is so nice to be able to reach out further (previously only had 6')

Awesome, glad you got to use it and break it in. You're right, the extra length makes it easier to gaff. No more reaching overboard to try to gaff a fish that might be a little out of range. Congrats on the catch too!

Maybe make a UM themed gaff - a Collegiate Series. Lot's of boaters here(Miami) with that color theme on their boats.

I lost my gaff The other day trying to gaff a tuna from a friend's boat. I let it go to grab the fish by it's tail. And it sunken I thought bamboo float ! Learned that the hard way.

Sorry to hear about your gaff. The shorter gaffs that have smaller diameter combined with a Kage spear tip or thicker /larger hooks tend to be less buoyant, and sink. Let me know if you would like another Heat themed gaff, I will give a ial price

Wow. Nice work. Those grips look great. Would you let me know where I could buy them? I'm rebuilding some rods and those would be sweet grips for them.
