I have to agree with 'itch22. Here is what I think they want in the near future; no drinking, no interior camping, no rifles, no dog hunting, and no off trail buggy or 4wd riding. Also a greater antler restriction... Oh, forgot that was already pushed through.... Add to that, some within or own hunting community are assuredly pushing for done of these things on their own already.
You can't ever forget, the ultimate goal in this country and in this world, is to either strictly regulate guns/hunting for big $, or eradicate it completely, especially where it doesn't pay.
you hit the nail on the head . if i hunted there i would be asking them to show force in big numbers for a while and the stuff will stop . That is the bes thing we as hunters could ask for so no more rules are brought up .
They don't have the money or the force to do that. Solution is closing the gates during the off season, charging for camping, and limiting buggies to the trails like they have done in Big Cypress. That's what the future holds for Corbett.
You can't swing a dead fish in Royal Palm or Loxahatchee without hitting a cop, and I've seen numerous pbso squad cars inside the WMA in the past so lack of resources is either a excuse or they can't write a ticket or make a arrest inside the woods.... More BS.

THATS B.S they have the man power to do it . All it would take is putting 3 or 4 wardens accross the area in unmarked trucks and cloths . THERE ARE SO MANY GAME WRDENS IN THE BROWARD WESTPALM DADE AREA .
Build canals and lakes and they will come. Land and game seems to take a back seat. If the issues are so bad it looks like would have the most bang for the buck by being there. Bet if they wrote no warnings the tickets would pay for the position or the overtime.

According to the Captain for Corbett's area, there are only 6 wardens for Palm Beach County and Martin county who work the better 8 hours of their 24 hours
The way i interpreted it was as follows.... they have only 6 land wardens for Palm Beach and Martin County, we will use them in areas more suited to making FWC look better in those 8 hours of said shift, unless the public gripes enough about it. I had a chance to speak with Mr. Suggs in the parking lot after he left the meeting. I inquired abt FWC presence in Allapattah. He said you may not see us but we're out there. I asked when? I live pretty close by, and I hunt out there quite a bit during small game and last year was even lucky enough to get a bow quota out there. Haven't seen a gray truck in 2 years. After that he said he had to get home to his kids.
Guess the emails, phone calls, and letters should start overflowing the inboxes requesting more LEO presence in these management areas.... Sounds like a start anyway. There are already enough rules to properly regulate these areas but it's glaringly apparent that we lack enforcement. As we have all learned by now, you can't use a law on top of a law to ENFORCE a existing law.

A lot of the youngsters out there don't even know that mudding is not allowed. Talking to my son's friends their response is "we drive by LEO and nobody stops us" and "everyone else does it". How many do you think stop to get a brochure with the rules when they go in? Or do they just hear party at Corbett and drive on in?
How about something simple and quick - Put signs at both entrances stating "Off Road driving and target shooting not allowed outside hunting seasons" or something to that effect. Let them stay for a couple of months then start strokin paper. I bet most don't even know the rules out there.
Just out of curiosity as a Lox resident and a concerned hunter. What would happen if a few law abiding citizens would get together with the pd and go out on these nights almost as a Neighborhood watch would? With phones and cameras these days it would not be hard to provide the evidence needed to a PBSO officer or FWC. Working in the public safety field I know all too well how many incidents we have out there and how long it takes to get an officer or fire rescue into some of the parts of Corbett. If more people would call pbso and report the problem they would have no other option but to take the call and answer the complaint. The big one we had out there not but 2 weeks ago had one person ejected with the vehicle rolled over. The dangers are there and maybe we will have to take the matter rather the option to respond and enforce out of the hands of the officers and if I dare say force their hand to respond when someone is calling notifying them of illegal activity. At least then there would be a paper trail and recordings of phone calls that would establish documentation towards the problem.
Making a large change in law enforcement on a regular basis is difficult....but, it should be possible for the FWC officers (preferably in coordination with the Sheriff Dept. to have enough officers on hand) to "target" a few specific days (nights) and do a "raid" on the large parties that cause the most trouble. Be prepared to really "crack down" and make a strong impression that will be circulated among those who see Corbett as just a place to party and destroy.
I am sure some on this thread could pick out the "night" most likely and some undercover observation at the Corbett gate by a single officer with a plan for a rapid response if the "crowd shows" could be set up. FSCA has a good relationship with the local FWC and could work with them on such a plan...
I would hope they would "raid" the party and have officers sitting at the two gates checking every vehicle coming out as well....
A few such events should reduce the problem as the word gets out quickly today with social media.....
This would be better than just writing new rules and regulations that impede the law abiding people from enjoying a good time camping and visiting Corbett throughout the year.....and would still not be enforced enough to stop the troublemakers...
Enforce the current rules with a plan....that should be the first try...

I agree, and this was brought up at the meeting. It seemed to me as if every time either this or the idea of having someone in law enforcement at the gates for a while, it wasn't taken with too much enthusiasm from Mr. Suggs or anyone else on the other side of the microphone.
That is why I said go out there witness what is going on and then report it immediately. All of the complaints seem to come after the fact of glass, casings and the like. If you have them in progress I would love to hear of an agency that would refuse to come out and enforce these infractions keeping in mind all of the conversations are recorded and public record. Make the call request the recording bring it to media and then see what gets done when an emergency service is refusing to come enforce the law.
The problem is much more likely to get the attention of FWC-LE as well, if the people who are witnessing infractions will contact them with information at the time it is occurring. The more calls they receive on a particular issue in a specific area, the more time they will devote to patrolling the area. If few complaints are being made to them, then it receives lower priority. Specific issues can also be given higher priority by FWC staff who are higher in the food chain, but if you are the everyday Joe's like you and me, then calling in a complaint will help elevate the issue to a higher priority and increase the chances of the FWC's limited LE resources being used there.
That very idea was recommended at the meeting but wasn't payed much attention to. I think it is a good idea that could help in the long run, but like everyone has said already, we just need a strong presence a couple of times and it will fade... for now.
Having first hand experience our agency always calls FWC. As soon as we get off the phone FWC notifies PBSO and FHP. FWC usually has officers working on call but lately they have been coming from Lake worth or St lucie which is a long haul that is why they call PBSO to get them in. Because it is their primary jurisdiction they cannot refuse to go out for a 911 call. It may take a while but they cannot refuse and if they do get the tape I would love to hear the back peddle from them after that.
Well they acted pretty fast on the whole issue at Goodwin/broadmoore about camping and fires and relieving yourself next to the road. Why can't they raid Corbett randomly it's simple they have a buggy or 2 they have 4 wheel drive trucks and off road driving has been taught to them and thy have helicopters our taxes and fees have to go somewhere and it seems pretty simple plan a raid send the chopper in up high locate them send coordinance back to officers on the ground in vehicles and on foot. Seems pretty simple tickets and seized vehicles will have there bank accounts singing. I mean come on some of the punks that go out there from Jupiter farms and Wellington and such drive nicer vehicles than some of us on here and they are 10 or more years younger than most of us. I like to play in the mud to but there's a time and a place and that's called mud fest or river ranch. I've located another one of there hang outs to its the boat ramp and park over off PGA swung in to rinse the trailer and flush the motor before heading home and there was atleast 8 trucks and probably 20 or so teens drinking beer and mudding up the grassy spot by the ramp. As we were leaving one pulled in with a jacked up power stroke 03-05 with 2 iced down kegs really!!!
First thing is we are not going to stop the party fest. At best you are going to move the problem somewhere else. Squeeze here and it will bulge there. The agencies may be more worried about where it will go than where it is.

Well i contributed to fwc fund over weekend.ive been cleaning camps on north end.i live in the acreage .so ive been taking power line grade because ive almost had a head on collison going down main grade every time im out thete lately. I had my wife and my two small children with me so i would rather risk a tiket than there safety. So old man Haynes was sitting there and i knew he was gonna stop me .so after getting all the paper work done i asked if they were gonna start cracking down out there.he said they have been for a while .he said there giving a notice to appear on first offense. Ive known him for a long time and he knew i wasint out there mudding so he was nice and just gave me infraction.felt kinda good as i was driving away a truck load of kids partying were driving right towards him and i just waived.also if anybody wants to nit pick i was on the power lines YOU can meet at the camps out there and help me clean them up.tonight i was out there for while .fwc was driving around also.so maybe they are cracking down.

I never even considered this view. It almost makes sense.

If you go out to clean up again send me a pm I will join you and bring my boy along. He could learn what not to do by picking up the mess.
i was out there for the group cleanup day a month ago or so. too bad the keep throwing garbage out.
Next time there is a group cleanup we should take the giant pile of crap and stack it across the entrance. That might let people or the fwc know we will not tolerate the garbage.

They aren't all gray....some aren't even trucks....don't have "FWC" on em or blue lights either.
