New Advertisements

mccrackermccracker Posts: 354 Deckhand
Is it just my computer or is everyone else on here getting advertisements that pop up on the side and bottom of the screen. I only seem to get these pop ups on the Florida sportsman forum pages. They're getting to be a bother, if they're necessary then oh well but just wanted to make sure it's not just my computer.

it's annoyingly for everyone, unfortunately. I've been driven off more sites when they get out of control. This so far is just a pain in the neck

They are a pain....and sometimes hard to find the way to get them out of the way of the posts.....Not a good move by FS! I don't mind pop ups too much....everyone has to make a buck...but get them off the "copy" part of the page!

IE has a built-in adblocker and pop-up blocker (I have that turned off and still do not see ads) and as noted you can get Adblocker Plus for all browsers.

Almost seems to me though, that some of you have some malware/adware on your computers as well.

If you run Google Chrome, use adblock like Gary suggested. It works great and you'll never see the ads.

It is a real pain. I mostly have been staying off this site lately because of the new ads. These are the worst I have ever seen on any site.
  • mccrackermccracker Posts: 354 Deckhand
How ironic is it that as I scroll down the page here, sitting in the last post by LittleBert is an advertisement to Remove Malware- Free. Is somebody watching? :Google

turned pop up blocker back on...poof they are gone forgot all about that. Some sites require you to have it off to work correctly. Thanks for the reminder!

These things lock the page trying to load it's aggravating

What is it with AD guys? Seems they really put a lot of effort into
ways to pizz people off :banghead
It's like "fool proof" they make a smarter fool
I refuse to look at what they are selling
When they load by mistake,as I try to X them out
I just close FS down and move on
To a more friendly web page

Hope FS finds a friendlier add company

Spent a bit of time figuring out how to kill them the other morning myself.

While I think it is in OUR INTEREST that FS make a profit, and I think advertising IS a legitimate way for them to generate the revenue I do find myself agreeing that there has to be a more ADULT FRIENDLY way to go about it.

As it is the advertisers using those add types will not be seen on my computer......BUT.....I am open to the notion that we who use the forum ( for free! ) should maybe show some preference for the advertisers who do so in a unannoying way. Maybe with a feedback mechanism such that FS & the advertiser know we've responded and used their products as a result of their polity means of advertising.

Let them put out a mag that sells if they want to make money.

    Uh, yeah...totally.

Because print media has just been thriving compared to digital media in the past decade.

Okay, I installed it and no change, ads still popping and cabalas too. I will try to reboot again, it is ridiculous if I have to change my freaking web browser.

Okay, second reboot and ads do not seem to be popping, cabelas still does though.

Here are some other ways to stop most also besides turning on the popup blocker.

    load onto your machines.

    These are all free.

malawarebytes - same as superantispyware run together and keep your machines clean.
    superantispyware cleans adaware and malaware
    ghostery - blocks trackers
