Cowlin Cowherd had it on his show and mentioned Jameis' several brushes with the law. I had forgotten about stealing from Burger King last July. Definitely a pattern here of poor judgment.

The citation is an arrest. I have had cops issue them when I have caught shoplifters who weren't famous. It is fairly common. The cops usually run the person through their check and if nothing shows up like a repeat offender they give them the citation. It is called a notice to appear in court. Then the State attorney's office will have him go through Pretrial Intervention which avoids the conviction and doesn't show on a criminal background search as such.

That, at least sounds like what happened in this case.
