Apalachicola trip

I am a longtime visitor to the site but just recently registered so I can post. I am heading down to Apalachicola this weekend. With all of the recent rain I am thinking the bay will probably be a mess and that I may be better off trying St. Joe Bay. I have never fished St. Joe and was curious if this may be the best viable option based on the weather. Any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have done well on SJB. My last three trips (in the last three weeks) averaged 25+ trout each day with one or two limits taken home. Blues and Spanish are mixed in if you want a little variety.

Thanks guys. We got down to Apalachicola on Thursday afternoon and hit a few spots close in with no success. Needless to say the water was a mess with the recent storms so we decided to give St. Joe Bay a try on Friday morning. We got a late start on Friday hoping for some of the rain to move out. We did manage to catch a few spanish and a couple of blues that day. I caught the largest spanish my buddy and I had ever seen. We went back again on Saturday and the weather was finally starting to cooperate. It was a mixed bag, we caught 4 keeper flounder, a nice 20" trout, and numerous spanish and blues. I could not get over the water clarity despite all of the recent rain. We launched out of Presnells and fished the southern portion around Blacks Island. You could still see the bottom in 6' of water! We had a great time although we did not find the trout like we had hoped. Water temp was ranging 66-68 degrees. I will definately be coming back to St. Joe Bay. I hope to bring my wife and two boys down sometime this summer to try our hand at scalloping ( any pointers are greatly appreciated ).
