Florida vacation

I am towing my boat over from Louisiana for a one week vacation in Port St Joe. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips and or starting points for some snapper and grouper fishing. Or if this is too far north for grouper. We will be there the first week in June. Thanks in advance.

Be sure you check the snapper season first, its gonna be short this year. I don't fish out of Port St Joe, I'm farther east but you can always get some of the public numbers. You can see what's out there and then buy a chip from http://www.floridagofishing.com/reefs/gps-reefs-interactive-chart.html#.U2TeA_ldUYl and there are free numbers at other websites like http://myfwc.com/media/131585/reefs.pdf

When I was at LSU, long ago, we used to go to Cape San Blas occasionally. Not so much for the fishing, its better in Louisiana, but for the clear water and white sand beaches Louisiana didn't have. Our favorite fishing thing to do was scalloping, not something we could do in Louisiana.

Alligatorob - Thanks for the info. Scalloping was one of the things that we were looking forward to, unfortunately the season will not be open when we are there. I will check both sites for snapper info.

The run to good bottom from PSJ Marina is not too far...based on my bottom trips out of Mexico Beach.

Small talk at the Marina will get you a heading and distance I suppose...good Marina!
