Brook Trout

Heard some stories (and saw a photo, but I'm not familiar with the area so I cant confirm) about Brook trout in the Jim Creek area of the Tosohatchee WMA. Anyone else been hearing/know about this? I always thought Orlando was too far south for freshwater trout.

Not a chance. Summer water temps would fry a Brook trout down here.

that's kinda what I figured. but it was an interesting notion so I thought i'd get some input on it. heres the photo for reference.

Thats a Brown not a Brooky, and as far as I know there aren't any places in Florida that can sustain any trout with the summer temps. Above 70* and trout start to struggle badly.

Look at the background of the picture also. Clear rocky substrate, not exactly too common here in East Central Florida.

Seatrout that's been hanging too close to sewer openings into the lagoon. Turning brown to match the surroundings.
