Boats near fishing pier???

Was out at the long pier at Ft Desoto. I was shocked to see several boats within 20 feet of the pier. All were trying to catch bait. Current was ripping so they were anchored and using rod and reel. Is there no law about staying away from fishing piers?

Not illegal unless legally marked with buoys and officially a part of the city or county regulations

Some near us have a 300 foot restriction on them. You wouldn't want to get too much closer anyway as you are sure to get pelted with lead from the anglers on the pier.

That IS illegal, however, you are not allowed to interfere with someone’s fishing and hopefully the guys catching bait are respectful enough to stay away from the lines that are out.
