CK 04/06/2014 - Inshore

Sara and I went out about 11:00 in Cedar Key. There wasn't a lot of moving water so we fished the around the grass flats and channels edges. Caught a bunch of Spanish Mackerel in a transition from shallow grass to a channel. We kept five which was plenty for the smoker. While we were catching the Mackerel, Sara lost two gator sized trout right at the boat. So frustrating!

After being done with catching Mackerel and before the tide slowly started coming back in, we started drifting over some grass between 3 to 4 feet of water behind snake. We ended up with 5 keeper trout with the biggest being 19”. At first there was maybe one other boat out there, but around 3:00 I look around and it looks like a parking lot. There had to have been 15+ boats that were pretty close to each other on the flats! So we go out of there.

All fish were caught on soft plastics and live shrimp under a cork. Water temperature was between 72 and 74. It was a beautiful day out with the winds being pretty light and water was flat as a board. We didn't end up with any great pictures, but we took a few for proof. :wink
