Budget Tablets

I've been looking at some budget tablets around $100 to take on trips. There are several with Andriod 4.1 and 1.5 to 1.6ghz processors. I've found 2 that are particularly enticing: Envision EM63 7" for about $84, and Ematic 8 Pro
Model EGP008GR for $90. Both have 1gb RAM and 8GB onboard storage, with micro SD slot for up to 32gb and mini-usb, hdmi ports. Any thoughts or other recommendations from the vast knowledge pool of FSOT?

For that price hope it turns out better than the time I bought the budget digital picture frame, or the budget (pelican) kayak. Priced too good to be true, or better yet, disposable? There is *guaranteed* to be a reason why.

With a tablet, is it going to be the sound not able to get loud enough, the screen not being bright enough, the tactile feedback of the touch screen not sensitive or accurate enough, the headphone jack not working properly, the software not working properly, a technical issue, a hardware issue? Any if the above, good luck getting support at that price.

Then again, you might luck up. Try it out and let us know how it goes. I've just been burned on more than one occasion with crap like that and won't even waste my $$ anymore. You get what you pay for 99% of the time.

Heard leneco came out with a tablet for about 100. I a! Typing this on a galaxy tablet that I got for 120, it works good but you can see the difference between this and a higher end tablet

My techie son said to go with at least Android 4.2 system for better wifi connectivity and Google Chrome features. Now, I'm looking at this model:

Read the Ematic Tablet reviews on Amazon. Specifically, read the bad reviews and see if they have any recurring themes (ie. Lack of brightness or lack of loudness complaints). If so, make sure you are prepared to deal with them, if they end up applying to you after your purchase:

Don't buy a cheap foreign knock-off for $100 when for $139 you can have a Kindle Fire HD with easy access to all kinds of content from Amazon.

The Nexus i. good, but over all and not to start a iPad vs the Android, the iPad is seriously better as of now, give Samsung a few more years to catch up. For traveling the kindle HD fire is also ok, or even a cheap Samsung Galaxy($170) is OK Smaller is better, but not too small. I have a iPad mini, FG, wish it was the retina screen SG. Is the IPad mini worth the price for travel, only your budget knows

We love our Fire HDs, I started with 1 for me, then 2 more for the 2 sons, most recently one for the wife. Great value, easy to use, had the cheapie android tablets never again....

OK, ematic is out - inconsistent build quality and durability. I have found this one to be intriguing: Filemate Clear X4. So far 4.4/5 stars from 55 reviews, plus there are a couple of detailed youtube tutorials about it.

Sprint had a promo going on and FREE tablets with new acct.. So i closed my acct. and opened a new one and saved 5 dollars in the meantime.. they gave me a Samsung 7.5 by 4.5 tablet for nothing... and it's real good. Does everything my MacBook Pro does...
