Naples peacock bass!

I finally caught my first peacock bass yesterday. I'd heard rumors of peacocks in a certain area and I went to investigate a few spots. The spot was cover with lilys and algae which made perfect hiding spots for the peas. I drifted my lure along the edge of a weed mat and all of a sudden a huge dark shadow came darting out from underneath and snatched my lure...fish on but it wasnt what I was expecting....big legal sized snook!!!!The fight lasted all of 8 seconds before he broke my 20lb leader and swam away. I walked down a little further figuring no peacock would be caught dead being around a snook that size and i pitched another lure alongside some lily pads and WHAM fish on....another huge snook....this one actually stayed connected for 15 seconds before he spit the hook back at me. A little furture down the bank i spotted a nice swirl on the surface, pitch my lure and it barely hit the surface before the peacock inhaled it...It wasn't the biggest but boy can they pull some line, awesome fighters. I can't wait to go back with some stouter gear to land those snook and pull a few more peacocks out!!!
