On Sunday 3/9 buddy Strykeone and I ran about 18 miles out of Caxambas pass. Weather was breezy in the AM but settled down to a picture perfect day. The fishing was perfect too, as we limited out in nice keepers and tossed back at least 50 shorts. Needless to say, we both had big smiles and sore arms and backs. Fish ran from 21" but most were right around 24" and a couple were real rod benders- they didn't want to leave the bottom. We caught some on strictly artificials (3-4 oz jigs tipped with curly tails) or cut bait. We drift fished over a large area of hard bottom, ran back up into the wind and tide and repeated the drifts. Last stop of our day was back at the Caxambas dock for fish cleaning (on a Sunday) surrounded by pelicans and tourists. Not sure who was more annoying- LOL. The fish are out there- find some hard bottom starting anywhere over 35' of water and do some prospecting. Tight lines.
fish box full of grouper and ice- a beautiful sight-
boat dog on point
