Sea Grape Dr.

What can someone tell me about Sea Grape Dr. Its past the turn-off to Everglades City on US41. There seems to be a “canoe” launch down at the every end of the street. Is it tidal influenced, snook, bass, baby tarpon? I guess the real question is 1. can you launch a 17’ skiff and 2.is it worth drive.
Im thinking about making a trip there mid week. Whats your thoughts?

Thanks: Steve

I fished it years ago a couple of times. Did catch a few small snook but was not impressed enough to go back. I fished it in a 12 ft. boat and recall it being very shallow at the south end of Sea Grape. I did not attempt to enter the long canal. I do not recall a tidal flow. However, you don't know unless you try. Good Luck.

    That's Jon Boat Country.
That straight away Canal runs due West and get's real small as it get's behind Wootens, Jon Boat small. Halfway Creek. Get in it and you,ll end up in Chokoloskee Bay in about a day.
If you go left/East it will branch off to several Canals that run into Big Cypress Housing area. No Motors but you can Troll Motor it.
The Majorras will show up there by the thousands at certain times of the year (can't remember when) and the Snook will follow. Lot's of Snook cause their eating the Majorras that I think are Spawning.
We use to hang a live bait across the canal on a Clothespin right at the surface and sit back and have some Beers waiting for the explosion.

I fish it 4-5 days a week. Juvenile tarpon are in there pretty good right now, best about 15 minutes before dark until you can't stand the mosquitoes anymore. It's a long ride from goodland and the boat really isn't needed per say.
