Hit the goon on Sunday (along with everybody else :crowd) and did pretty good.. We poled up on several schools of tailing reds (some schools were in excess of a hundred fish). We boated and released a half dozen fish in the mid slot range but I think we could have worn ourselves out if we had live/cut bait on board.. I'm pretty stubborn and prefer artificials but like others have said in the forum, they are some picky fish out there.. They seemed to prefer the clear Slayer 4" shad with red/gold flake over the darker colors but later in the morning they even turned their noses at that..
I'm still on a huge learning curve on the flats but I'm getting the hang of it... My son was on the casting platform all day and although he can't wing it out there as far as needed and right on target,, I was very proud of him.:applause He's more into "catching" than "fishing" but playing the game of stalking huge schools of fish that were all around us,,, he was really having a blast... He's already asked to go again next weekend... :beer
Disclaimer: I played around with a new HDR app on my cell phone before uploading the photos.. So they look kinda cool,, but it does make my son look like he hadn't had a bath in a month (darkens the skin)... He's a clean kid and was the redfish king for the day... :dance
