chut03chut03 Posts: 60 Deckhand
Been a while since I've last used Mann's, just ordered some and I decided to use them today. The color of choice: Blackberry 12 inch. and they seriously produced, no random baby bass today

Give the Strike king anaconda worms a try.... Its a big moving bait that puts a lot of movement in the water.
but then again I do all of my bass fishing late at nite.... they love strike king ...no weights needed..
and yes I have some of the manns jelly worms... but the strike king IMHO does a better job.... thanks for the report

Great fish. Been a LONG time since I threw a jelly worm. Grape and blackberry were favorites in the 8" size.
That was 30 years ago .. Wow , time flys.

Same here but I have not thrown them lately. Growing up at Lemon Bluff, the No. 8 Manns Grape was the old weapon of choice.

Before that it was Crème bait company. They came pre rigged.

I've used the anaconda before. Its also a great bait, but I find that the Mann's has better action when fished extremely slow. Either bait will produce great fish. Although I have to say the Mann's jelly worms smell the best in my tackle bag lol.

Heck dont change to another brand just on folks comments! For one thing the Jelly Worms are working for you. Besides, there is something to be said about throwing something no one else is. Everybody and their uncle uses strike king and the latest stuff. Quite often its smart to throw grandpa's lures.

Lotta truth in that. They worked for a reason.

LOL... I didn't mean for him to give up on the Mann's... just to try something different that's just has large
but IMO moves a lot more water... even when just laying there..

Don't know about you guys... but bass don't zero in on one lure... today they may hit a large worm and tomorrow
they won't even look at it...but if you change things up.. then you put yourself back into the game..

I never understood why some people will stick to one lure just because it caught fish on one day..heck I love
spinner bait and use to have the same mindset... live and die by it :banghead...LOL..

Last week the bass in our area change things up on us in a matter of hours.... first they were killing everything
small... then the bite die.... we were beating a shoreline when our friend comes in and throws a 12in worm
and BAM!!! it get slam on the first cast then he did it a few more times... till we started throwing the large
worms... it was one of those nite where you couldn't move your lure.. you cast it and left it alone and it would
get slammed.... move it at all and nothing.. on other nights movement was the key.... try to figure them out and
    you will go :willynilly

Fishing> You either learn to change things up or stay with a certain lure and have a lot of slow day when others
are catching fish.... I will give Mann jelly worms a try this weekend and at least have a nice smelling tackle
    bag :wink

They were on sale at BPS so I picked up some. How did you hook and fish them?

    Double post, sorry.

It looks like he fishing it with nothing... but the hook and doing a slow crawl back to him.... its a big worm and you can get a good
cast out of it.. we are also doing the same thing.. fishing the weeds is key were we are at... get them as close as you can and use a
a S L O W retrieve .... at times when you punch it thru the weeds is when you will get a pick up....

But again not all places are the same> Our water are still cold and one nite a small worm will flat out kill out there and the big ones
wont even get tap... then you move from part of the lake to another and they only want to hit the large worms... :willynilly

texas rigged with a 1/8 bullet, and a 5/0 ewg hook. or without the weight and just simply let the worm slowly sink.

Caught 5 on them the other day. Landed one around 5 and had another shake off around 5. Surprisingly, these baits catch a fair amount of 1-2 lb bass.

When I use smaller worms (like 8 or 6"), I get plenty of bass that are only 5-6" long lol. but then again, it all depends on what the bass want to eat. Got this 6lb bass on a small black zoom trick worm two days ago.13311813254_807d2dd270_b.jpg
