Help fishing brackish pond

OK guys I could use some suggestions. I'm a snowbird down here in SW Florida and I'm staying in a condo with a small pond in my back yard. I'm told by the neighbors that it is brackish water, full of largemouth and some snook. They say that during storms the saltwater rushes into the pond and brings snook with it, which then survive in the pond. Anyway, I have thrown everything in my tackle box and can't get any action. I've tried plastic worms, top water lures, and yesterday tried fresh shrimp fished on the bottom and suspended, no takers. What am I doing wrong?

Live shiners, would be your best bet. The cold and moon right now aren't helping you any though. For artificial I would try again with some worms off the bottom, or a swim bait deep.

Austin, interesting comment! I spend hours out in the back yard, soaking up the sun, observing the wildlife, reading etc. I just don't see much activity in the water. There are lots of spawning fish (I'm told they are tilapia)' a few schools of small minnows. But I have seen very few fish busting top water, no birds scooping up fish etc. If the neighbors hadn't told me the pond holds fish I would think there were no fish in there!
