I could be wrong(I usually am), but I think you are going to have to find a lighter hook and some thicker foam to make those float... Other than that they look great...
Yeah, I think that is a Mustad 34011 #1, which is what some of the vids i watched said was preferred. I agree, I don't think the "tail" needs to sit so far behind the hook point.
Tried my hand at some poppers, didn't have any proper head foam and to lazy to go to the shop so I improvised with some craft foam dots from my kids, ran the bottom one through my pool and I was pleasantly surprised by the action.

My wife came home with a bunch of dots like that already glued together. She got a little punchy when I stuck my hand in the bag, pulled one out and proceeded to study it. She knew what I was thinking.
One for the mullet run now in swing. Not as nice as ODC's but I was sleeping at Harry's the day he taught us how to tie these.:sleep They can definitely eat up a lot of material when they get big

That's a really nice tie Bob, great minds think alike. You're always welcome to swing by if you feel you need a refresher (but I think you have it down). Try some other materials for the tail, I use bucktail, maribou, yak, polar bear, fox, finn raccoon, and pretty much anything else I can get my hands on.
So I'm messing with this EP gamechanger stuff, I like it. It's not really like Farrar blend, like I was told it would be. It's lighter, thinner, has a more uniform texture, and it's a little heavier on the flash.
After a month and a half of converting the basement from my man cave to a pretty pretty princess castle, I managed to sit down and start restocking some flies.
Now if I can just keep my hackles from becoming hair ties I should be good.
Tried my hand at tying my own trout flies for a trip to the smokey mountains next month. All of these are size 18. Didn't have all the correct material but I made do. We'll see if the fish care

Nice choice of smokes, jake!
I'm gonna need a few of those big flies. The mullet are here and the **** are with them.
I have no idea what you're talking about, that fly is for sheepshead : )
Fine there are very large sheepshead around and I need to snag a few to remember what it feels like to go into my backing.

Did you fish them yet?
