Where did the EXIF data go?

WBDrifter had asked my why some of my posts included exif info and others did not. I finally figured out what was causing it and it was apparently my upload process.

If I upload a file from my computer and browse to the folder to choose the file the difference seems to be if I have the files listed as a detailed list or as thumbnails. If files listed the exif is present and the ext shows as upper case. If my folder view is thumbnails it shows the ext. as lower case and no exif data is present.

Odd for sure.

My theory was wrong. Not sure what the trigger is at this point.

I will speculate direct upload vs uploaded and linked from a photo sharing site. Some sites strip the EXIF in an effort to save silo space.

I didn't think the FS implementation of vBulletin would host pictures with exif data, but I was wrong. It looks like it can as long as they make it past the program that does the resizing (CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 75 ). Just a WAG, but it seems like sometimes the first picture in a string slips past it. You might try a test with some downsized pictures to see if that's what it is.

i can see the exif data on my images...
i use PB for hosting....
