All my Nikon DSLR's are refurbished. D200 and D7100. Cameta Camera. Never had any issues with them. One Olympus point and shoot. Also no issues.

To me it's a no brainer. They're anything from open box to redone. Chances are they've been checked out by a technician much closer than a new one coming off the line. I'll take a refurb any day over new.
Just make sure you are aware of the terms of warranty. I have a 70-300 VR refurb and I think the warranty period was only 6 months. Not a big deal to me but if it was a 70-200 VR I probably would look into third party warranty. I know a guy looking at a 1000 repair cost on his Canon 70-200 is II which was not a refurb but is a few months out of warranty. Ouch.
