Yes a couple years back when everything started slowing down around the marina. I gave up the website and I'm guessing some asian peoples took it up???
I'm actually thinking of closing the marina down real soon. The store just cost too much money to keep the doors open.
Maybe some Asian people would like to take it over also? Make a great place for a sushi bar????
It will be a sad day when the last little mom and pop marina is gone to developers and only the rich will be able to enjoy the waters of Florida.

I'm sorry to hear that you might have to close the store, I know in the past you have mentioned some different ways to operate the store so that you can avoid some overhead costs like the Church of The Holy Mackeral and Bait! I have another idea that you might consider, my friend has a Levy County liquor license with package that he is currently trying to find a better location for because its currently north of Chiefland and they have several in the area already, you could sell bait, ice, beer and liquor out of the same location? I don't recall too many places on the Southern end of levy county to buy package liquor but I could be wrong? Just an Idea.

Yeah if your buddy wants to rent the building, who knows, that just may work out???
Problem is just not enough people fishing these days. It's just not worth keeping the tackle store open right now. I will keep renting the boat slips as that pays the taxes on the property, but the store and ramp will have to be closed to keep the expenses down.
One day the people of Yankeetown will be driving by a fancy condo building wondering what happened to paradise??

Sell non-ethanol and eliminate the launch fee, invest in better and more stock in the tackle shop. All this may not be possible, in which case, maybe your best option would be to sell or lease.
I did sell Non-ethonal fuel but did not have the heart to charge people $6 plus a gallon just to break even, so I stoped selling fuel. The shelves are emptying out as the economy is too slow (and has been for over four years now) and I am trying to empty the place down for the closing of the tackle store.
The ramp has always been free to those who spend $15. in the store.
There is a very good reason to have a ramp fee but I will not discuss that here.
The property was purchased as an investment only. Keeping the store opened was secondary. I have always said that as long as the store could pay it's own bills I would keep it open. The past couple of years I have been keeping the store open with my own money, It's just a waste of time and money.
Maybe one day when they get the trash out of Washington and people start enjoying life again, I will re-open the store??

Oh ma. Hate to hear it Ed. I sure hope it turns around for you and you can keep the place goin after all. I do kinda like the bar thing that Louie was sayin.
Well the marina will still be there, Just the store will not be open.
The people who dock there will have a key to the gate that will block the boat ramp... kinda like there own private ramp.

Really sorry to hear that as you have the best ramp in the state IMO. I would definitely rent keys to the gate though. Living in central Florida I don't get over there as much as I would like, but being able to put in and take out in fresh water and fish in salt has spoiled me. It's about the only place I've fished that you can do that and I now absolutely hate it when I have to put my trailer in salt water.
Sorry to hear it Ed, I frequented your shop several years ago when we first came to this region ( long before I joined the forum and further, before I met you at the last bash that you and the lovely Missy that entertained us all ) However my fishing habits and comfort have taken me south to CR and Sassy. Some of the ideas and opinions that have been conveyed "might" work, but if you think running a bait/tackle shop is a chore and expense, adding alcohol takes things to a much higher/riskier level in many aspects lol. Sorry fellas, I'm just speaking as a business man. That being said, I'll vote for "Ed's Beer Shed" Park your sled and fog your head
Sad to hear Capt. I love your place, but understand your point also. I don't go fishing near as often as I use too. It would be cool if someone would rent it as a bar/grill on the water since there's not anything like that in Inglis (could attract boaters, bikers, and day trip folks), but renting the key might be something I would consider as well??

Funny you should say that as lately I have had a few developers showing up with offers for the place.
