****... Too bad he didn't reach out, as he apparently had a lot of friends that would have tried to help him...
There should be NO Commercial Fishing for any fish species considered 'Over-fished' , 'Undergoing Overfishing' or Subject to Recreational Seasons, Limits, or Closures... Game Fish Status IS the Answer !!!
I was very good friends with Andy. Today is a very sad day. Just a few days ago we had talked about him moving in with me. Unfortunaltley Andy was very depressed and made the sad decision to take his life today. He will be missed by many.

please tell me someone tried to help him, with his vast network of "friends", someone should have at least made a call to 211 or 911 and got him help if he was showing signs! there no excuse to not do anything. it could have been preventable.
We will probably never know why you did what you did but now, your mind and soul are at rest. ...may the wind be always at your back and may the sun always shine on your face...until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Those who eventually take their own lives have been showing signs of needing help for a long time. Unfortunately, most of us fail to see these very vague signs which are desperate pleas for help. Those that are closest to him/her are usually the last to recognize these signs and most, unfortunately, never do until it is too late.

Well said. I never met Andy but I am still saddened by the loss. This is a stark reminder to me of how good I am at hiding how I feel. Chances are you know someone in the same place. When was the last time you told someone how much you appreciated their company? If you're anything like me, it is too easy to forget to do until it is to late.
On the flip side, if you ever feel like there's no other option, talk to someone. Anyone you can. Hell, call me. I don't know nuthin about anything but I'll listen.
Taken on Novermber 16, 2010. This was when Andy was new at the snook jig thing, so new he didnt even know that name of the jigs. Andy just grabbed something that looked cool on shelf at John B's and and hit the shoreline or got invited on someone's boat. Glad he was able to come aboard my boat a few nights. He was the one who showed me what he used and how to use it. That night we both caught quite a few BIG snook.
Very sad, to say the least. I didn't know Andy personally, but followed his posts on FB quite often. He always seemed to produce the fish and photos that made me jealous, especially those monster Permit. Wishing a peaceful rest to a great angler and a great man.
Just breaks my heart. My Dad and I had the pleasure of fishing with Andy about a year ago. It was a tough night of fishing, but Andy worked hard and put us on some fish. We had a blast fishing with him.
Always looked forward to his FB posts as he took some beautiful shots.
Prayers for Andy's family. Been a Port Salerno resident my whole life and when I finished college and came back I heard so much about this very talented young charter captain named Andy Tasker - how he was a great guy and always put smiles on his clients face by putting them on fish.
Loved seeing his photos online. Though I never had the privilege of meeting him, I know he had a vast network of friends who cared deeply for him. I am devastated to hear this and I pray for all his surviving friends and relatives. May God heal all of you and bring you peace.
RIP Andy and condolences to the family. So sad to hear circumstances.

Andy had a very, very close, and i mean close group of friends, me included and I spent hundreds of hours on the water and off working and helping him through his pain. Sometimes the demons inside ones head just take over and get the best of you and ultimately win. He had many demons and may I say again, lots of help.
Snook87, the last two times you ran into Andy you turned your back to him and didn't say hi, maybe you can work on getting some help for that. And your last post about Andy being new to the jig in 2010 was very inaccurate too. He's been fishing the jig with his good friend Billy many years before that. I'll be glad to send you his number if you'd like to correct any of your information that you made up.

Very true Drew. Andy was defiantly not new to jigs in 2010. That may be when he first began to fish with them in the boat. I remember few yrs prior to that going to the causeways and jig fishing with Billy and Andy. I can assure you me, Andy and Billy caught many fish on jigs yrs before 2010. Still a shame he had to deal with the problems in this way. Like you said, He will NEVER be forgotten!!!!!
Very sad. Prayers... I've missed his reports here over the last couple of years. I remember his banana boxer shorts... Seemed like a great guy. Big loss. :angel
