looking for a job

hey guys,

I'm moving down to the keys from Maine in early February for a few months and looking for a fishing job or something related. I'm a skilled and passionate fisherman and have a lot of experience with charters and tuna fishing. I worked on the tuna.com out of Gloucester, MA the past two tuna seasons and would love to start fishing in FL for the winters. i have my captains/6pk license. let me know if you have any job leads or insite for the area. thanks

Why don't you be a celebrity on Tuna.com, oh wait you did that already, lol. I'm surprised to see you show up here Garon, you should try The Yankee Captains out of Key west, you and the owner both from Gloucester!

tough to find work that pays. you could try walking the charter docks and maybe pick up a gig. if you can rig a ballyhoo, tie biminis, that's a good start. pay is usually very weak on charter docks and you pretty much work for tips. if you have a license, that helps, too. try craig's list if you have too. if you can BARTEND really good, you can write your own ticket and make at least $200-$400/nite. special skills such as building, accounting, medical, computer stuff usually have jobs avail. around here. hint: just bring plenty of money to get yourself going as it may take time to get a legit job that pays enough for you to stay down here for a while. rent is very expensive in key west. try renting in the lower keys. good luck.

Have plenty of cash put away. I have a friend that works at Chris's Bait and Tackle that works the gas dock, no stress and the tips are good. Good luck to ya and have fun while your down.
