Key West Deep Dropping... 17 and 20 Jan

As we all know, when it comes to Deep Dropping, you Gotta Go when the conditions are right for it.

I've been showing Kirk and Judy how to use some of the new gear Kirk has been outfitting his boat with and since he just purchased a electric reel.... It was time to move on to Deep Dropping....

First Drop....

And then some Rosies..

It was a cold day, but with dinner in the box we headed in.

Next trip out, we reviewed the info that we had done on the first day, and then it was time to explore new bottom areas so Kirk could learn what to look for in the different structures.....

After trying for a Wahoo, we headed out into much nicer conditions for Deep Dropping. Water was perfect, drift was NE at .8kts, and the fish were hungry...

The new area didn't produce and Snowies, but it did produce dinner. And as we were dropping, we had a couple of Dolphin stray from a weedline that got added to the box.

Also had a Tripletail try and hide under the boat, but he just couldn't pass up a squid tipped jig. It was his lucky day though, with plenty of dinners already in the box, he was released to be caught again.

Get out there when the day allows you to this time of year. They may be few and far between, but there's no telling when SAFMC will say the Rec Season for Snowies is closed, it's a moving target.

Catch'em Up!
