New Year's Day fishing??....

NE winds, strange "flat" tide all day, but good solunars in early morning and afternoon. Water "should" be deeper all day in the flats. Anyone fishing or want to? Not much of a boozer anymore on New Years so looking to head out.
Tampa Bay area anywhere. Rain forecasts???

What tide are you looking at? there is a -0.9 around 8:30 to 1.3 @ 3:30. and I won't expect much water on the flats until the afternoon.

Conrad, what topwaters are your favorites for the Pilsbury? You ever get any Reds or Trout out there? PM me if you don't want everyone to know and I'll post it on FB.

We had an excellent day fishing on the flats . I put the knife on 8 flounder 2 trout and a 2 redfish for my clients. The reds will be in the potholes due to the extra low tide in the AM. It has been getting better as the week has progressed. Tommorow should be banner in the AM.

Cold, wet and windy all morning.... waited for the call from my son to get the itch to test out his new "outfit" ... Quantum Boca 40 and his new 7' Calico Jack loaded with 15lb Power Pro Slick.... headed to the ramp at the crack of noon thirty to venture out of the Alafia River.... no Cobia at the plant today, but rather, the most "aggressive" Manatees I'd ever seen!!!!
Anchored up, started soaking baits, and the boat begins to move forward against the current???
Apparently Manatees like rubbing against anchor rode? Laying down on it? Wrapping their front flippers around it and swimming off? CRAZY!!!
Dropped an Aqua Vu camera down in the center of the channel, and "Fish ON!!!!".... look at video screen, MANATEE on!!! About 5 of them, graciously awaiting there turns to grab the camera and try to run off!!! Literally "laying" on top of the camera along the bottom where we couldn't retrieve it!!! Fat Bastages!!!!

In all, caught many small fish for the table with Silver Trout and Whiting being the main course.... My kids LOVE eating what they catch, so my son couldn't be more proud to take a bag of fresh fish with him to Nana and Papaws house for another few days of fishing Punta Gorda.... Happy New Year!!

Took home trout and redfish. Extremely low tides up in the bay with very little water movement before noon.
