but i'm leaning towards the other coordinator for the bengals; zimmer

for gm it'd be great if dungy would come back in that role, but that's a pipe dream

more indicators that smith is in:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will interview Lovie Smith as their first candidate, according to Ian Rapoport.
The Bucs' coaching search has only just begun but it already seems to be heading towards a conclusion, and that conclusion seems to look like Lovie Smith. We won't know for certain until someone's hired, of course, but Smith is the clear favorite for the job right now.

To make matters a little more interesting, Gil Arcia of The Bay Cave is reporting that Lovie Smith has recently purchased a house in the area, and that Smith could be the Bucs' next head coach within 48 hours. That seems pretty fast, but it's not unthinkable. Andy Reid was hired within five days of the season ending last season, and it the Bucs appear intent on getting Lovie Smith to come back to Tampa.

    what this could mean:

According to a source close to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Lovie Smith will be the first head coaching candidate that the Buccaneers will interview, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Smith hired as the new head coach after just one interview. While that rarely happens and teams like to do due diligence, that’s just a reflection of how much smoke there is right now regarding a Smith-to-Tampa-Bay move.

If Smith were hired, then the National Football Post’s Jason Cole reported yesterday that he would bring Jeff Tedford, Tony Sparano, Leslie Frazier, and Rod Marinelli with him to his new team. That’s a great group of head coaches, with only Tedford, who most recently was the head coach of Cal, as a question mark.

It will be interesting to see when Smith is interviewed and how the interview goes, since he is easily the favorite to become the Buccaneers next head coach. Smith would bring back some credibility to the Buccaneers head coaching position and organization, since he’s one of the best coaches in the game at relating with players and is a great deal better than both Raheem Morris and Schiano.

you'd think so, but with five other nfl teams vying for new coaches the glazers might want to lock in their choice before the opportunity is gone

I remember Zimmer from HBO Hard Knocks. Skinny little whiney old redneck guy. Did not like him at all.

For your sake, I hope not.

    coach hired:

Two days after firing head coach Greg Schiano, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finalized an agreement with former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith to take over the team, according to multiple media reports.

Jay Glazier of Fox Sports and ESPN are reporting the Bucs and Smith will complete a four-year deal.

I don't keep up with coaches much but at least I believe they are making an improvement over this last season.
