The new contract should help to quiet rumors that Fisher could be headed to Texas.
In addition to fielding the No. 1 ranked team in college football and having another top 10 recruiting class on the way, it looks like Jimbo Fisher will stay on as the 'Noles' head football coach for the foreseeable future. That's because Fisher just signed a new contract to serve as Florida State's head football coach for the next five years.
Shortly before the start of the Dec. 7 ACC Championship game it was reported that Fisher had agreed, in principle, to a new contract. That report might have been a bit premature since it took over three weeks to finalize all the details and get the contract signed. With a base salary of over $4.1 million a year, Fisher will become one of the 10 highest paid coaches in college football. The contract is also reportedly very "incentive laden" and is tied to his team's success both on and off the field.
The signing of a new deal at Florida State may help quiet rumors that Fisher is on the short list for the head football coach opening at the University of Texas. After 16 years as head coach of the Longhorns, Mack Brown announced in mid-December that he was stepping down after an 8-4 regular season. Since then the rumors that FSU's fourth year coach might be headed to Austin have intensified. However, a source close to Fisher told Warchant.com that the 48-year old native of Clarksburg, W. Va. is happy in Tallahassee and isn't interested in the opening at Texas.
Fisher's overall record at FSU is 44-10, which includes last year's ACC Championship and Orange Bowl victory. But it's his team's performance so far in 2013 that spurred on Florida State to offer a new contract with a substantial bump in salary. The Seminoles just completed the program's fourth ever perfect regular season and wrapped up the team's 14th ACC championship. Fisher and FSU will look to capture the program's third national championship versus Auburn in the BCS National Championship game on Jan. 6 in Pasadena, Calif.
Florida State has concluded its pre-bowl practices in Tallahassee and will resume on Jan. 1 at Orange College in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Another article mentions that he is happy in Tallahassee, mentions his sons doctors being nearby and to leave FSU now when he has the program right where he wants it to be would be pointless. All his hard work would be in vain, and someone else would be able to reap the glory.
Sometimes, it isn't all about the money. I honestly believe Jimbo wants to cement his legacy as a great coach and you must win titles in order to do that. He could be at FSU for a very, very long time is what my gut says. However, if he wins a title or two I can't blame the guy for bolting for 3x the pay.
His first class of recruits as a HC (Joyner and the other 4th year seniors) ate his cooking when he told them he wanted to rebuilt FSU, and just like Joyner Fisher stated that he wants to "finish what he started" that my friends, is integrity. He owes this to these kids who put their trust in him....I'm proud to call him our coach as opposed to other guys who bolt for all the wrong reasons.
Like I stated before, I wouldn't be mad if he left for $7-10 million a year but I would be shocked if he left before squeezing FSU for all we can pay him ($4.1M)

I like Jimbo.
Go Auburn!
Texas w/ another swing and a miss.
George you are good at talking out of both sides of your mouth.
He stayed "I told you"!
If he would have left and CS was hired "I told you".
Glad to see you around... Thought we lost you after you were called by many here.
Happy New Year!
Not a FSU fan.
As an FSU fan you'd rather have him there? OR as in you'd rather see Strong go to UF once Muschamp is fired?
Strong should be the next UF coach, and I had on good authority that if Jimbo left he would be the 1st in line for the job and snatch it up quick. I'll be scared of UF when Strong is HC, and I believe he will be the best coach they've had in awhile and the best recruiter since Ron Zook. Which is dangerous in itself....

And yes Charlie has it in his contract he could leave for Gainesville with no buyout. So if things don't turnaround with Will, I believe Charlie could step in with zero letdown .
what is UF waiting for? Do they know something nobody else does? Is that why they are letting muschamp stay for another year?
The Texas vacancy is interesting in that nobody is there to fill that role. Maybe thats why UF is waiting.
Either way George was right!!!!

His agent is Jimmy Sexton I believe
Then why isn't he better than Jimbo now?
It's because he's not better than Jimbo. At Louisville or at Gainesville. You Gator fans are funny as hell. Thinking a coach is going to instantly become better because he moves to Cow Town. You don't know how a coach is going to be until he proves himself, like Jimbo has.
Hell, two of the last three corches at UF proved to be DUDS, and the third one hauled **** under scandalous circumstances.
we will know how good he is when you use lose black Tebow.

Correct, I made a mistake by typing Billy. I believe he used to be our QB coach (billy) who was the father of our QB who ate too much acid, and proclaimed himself to be god after beating VT....Wyatt Sexton.
45-10 in 4 years....and an ace recruiter.
We ain't worried 'bout nothin'
They also didn't lose to NC effing state....
