So my wife totally shocked me and bought me a Big Green Egg (L). I am so stoked but have no experience with a smoker. I know lots of you guys have an egg. Any tips for a beginner. She got me the nest to go with it. Im so excited. Any recipes to share?

Sorry ... I don't have one but lots of the folks here swear by it.
Never seem more learned than the people you are with. Wear your learning like a pocket watch and keep it hidden. Do not pull it out to count the hours, but give the time when you are asked. --- Lord Chesterfield
Be careful with the "nest". You are putting a 300# piece of ceramic on wheels. If it falls, you can kiss it good bye. I recommend getting or building a table
When/if you do anything at high temp, like pizzas, you can guarantee the factory gaskets are going to fry. They sell after market gaskets that will not disintegrate. I have melted 2 factory gaskets and now I don't have a gasket at all, and lose little to no smoke between the lid and base
If you are doing something at a low temp, start the egg off low and ease the temp up to it. If you get it too hot, it is very difficult to get the temp back down.
Invest in a good meat thermometer
Never use lighter fluid or charcoal briquettes. Only use lump. I use royal oak, and light it with an electric starter
& get a set of these... they'll sear a rare steak (or chops, chicken breast, etc.) better than any restaurant...
