12/24 crystal river trout time

Went out today and there was not one boat at the first ramp on ft island trail. There is a downed tree in the canal right at the docks so those that have large boats probably shouldn't put in there. Small boats no problem.
It was pretty windy but found a bunch of trout in the river. My buddy and I caught 60 trout, a dozen Spanish mackerel, and a ton of lady fish. We let them all go. Most of the trout were small only 5 or 6 would have kept but it was a blast. We found a hole that you would get a bite within the count of ten on every cast with a shrimp. Ran out of shrimp and they would hit gulps just as fast. Threw topwater and tried out mirrodines and they worked too. Caught some pinfish with a throw net and those didn't last very long either.
Overall was a great day. Couldn't run into anything big except something that stole a mirrodine from me. This is a pretty awesome fishery!

How was the weather? was it cold all day? It sure was windy and cool in Gainesville today. I figured it would have been rough on the coast.
